not sure if this is due to rads...

I finished rads a year ago July.  I still have rib pain and my sternum hurts pretty bad when I run.  I am so tired of this pain and I  don't even know who to ask about it.  I don't see any Dr's anymore.  I will have an mri next Tues for a new lump in my breast but haven't really talked to a dr in a LONG time.  Is this just my new normal ( I had a mast and rads with recon, implants). It's frustrating to feel like I have no where to go.

You might go into the search function here on BCO and search for "rib pain." There seem to be some threads that could be relevant.

So sorry you're in pain. If it were me, and the pain started during rads, I would call and ask for a follow up appointment with my Radiation Oncologist.

I have pain in my lower rib area from costochondritis; it was diagnosed long before rads by symptoms but later showed up on a chest x-ray ("prominent calcification of the anterior costochondral junctions"). It gets worse when I am mentally or physically stressed.

Hope your MRI results are good.

I had similar pain as described on my sternum and swelling, leathery skin change of the affected breast.  I thought it was lymphodema but complained of chest pain.  My doc ran tests to rule out heart or lung problems.  My lymphodema therapist thought that breast tissue had attached itself to the sternum caused by the radiation.

pasofino - good info to have.  My insurance won't cover anymore PT and those ladies were so helpful and knowledgable.  My fascia had become 'stuck' to my ribs (thank you radiation) and my pt was the one to figure it out and fix it.  Hmmmm.  I may need to save my pennies and go back to pt.  Thanks ladies.

Can you see your RO for a follow-up? I have my next follow up in a year but my RO said to feel free to come in earlier if I had any questions or concerns.
