Ok, the weather here is turning nasty which makes walking in the neighborhood less then pleasent.
So I've decided to try the mall walking scene. I'm going to up by 6am tomorrow to catch my transpertation which is suppose to be here by 6:37am to take me to the local mall. I"ll be there till 10am. My plane is to go three times a week. After tomorrow, I think I'll get start a bit later in the morning. Hopefully I can get in a few laps in that amount of time. I'm terribly out of shape and overweight.
My some-what goal is to lose 10 lbs a month. Anyone's opinion as to my goal being reasonable or if they have done this would be appriceated. Encourgement would also be nice lol.
I will be posting results of my efforts at the end of each month

Granmarose, I have no words of wisdom but I commend you for setting a goal and getting out there to do it. From what I understand, losing no more than 2 lbs a week is ideal and leads to long term weight loss that is sustainable. So I think your goal is achievable and You go Girl!
Good luck

Bumping for grandmarose.

Hi Grandmarose: Congrats on getting out and about and setting a goal! 10 lbs per month might be a little aggresive,1-2 lbs a week is usually considered ideal, but it depends on how much you have to lose and how aggressive you want to be. You can always readjust that expectation. I'm rooting for you! How did your first mall walk go?

Ok did the walk on Fri. managed to do 6 laps in the time I allowed to be at the mall. Of course, being out of shape, I was only able to do 3 laps before I had to sit down and rest a spell. For all of you in the Seattle area, I'm walking the Commons Mall in Federal Way, other wise know as Sea Tac Mall. If there are any readers in the area who would be interested in joining me, I would love the companyy
I'm going to try and do it again on Mon. and then I have a several day break due to appointments the rest of the week. No rest for the wicked I guess lol.
I would appreciate any encourgement and kind thoughts and I will popping in with updates on any progress that I make.

Did the walk again this morning. Did another 5 laps this morning.

Congratulations grandmarose the important thing is that you keep going and gradually you will increase the number of laps that you do, it's hard to keep up exercise in the winter but you'll find the more that you do it the more you come to enjoy it.

Check out the "Lets Post Our Daily Exercise' thread and/or 'Wednesday Weigh In' thread. Both good, encouraging places.

ok, update on my walks. Didn't walk on Mon. Had a queezy stomach and my knee was really hurting. Walked today. Did 4 & 1/2 rounds, then went to a Dr. to get fitted for a knee brace to stabilize my left knee. Should have it by Wednesday. I'm hoping that I can do better on my laps after I get it. Wish me luck, Laurie
