Gonna force myself to go folk dancing

Before BC I really loved folk dancing. It's exercise, it's social, it's learning. I have totally given it up for the past two years. I am scared that people will be freaked by holding hands with a glove. (Maybe this is a good time to try a gauntlet actually) I am scared people will twirl me around too hard and make my LE worse. But, Dr.Francis mentioned that if I can get back to my former active lifestyle it will make controlling my weight easier, and I also just miss it!

My frozen shoulder has gotten better, this would have been unimaginable 6 months ago.

So wish me luck!

Or, Cookie, that sounds simply wonderful! The music is so up-beat and the exercise is terrific. Any special kind of folk dancing. I used to do Scottish country dance, but there's no group close by now, and it's not the sort of thing you do alone.Laughing Great fun and just challenging enough to give you a sense of accomplishment.

So wishing you not just luck, but loads of joy!

It went well. One guy said I should hold my shoulder higher, which made me nervous, but I had a great time!!

Way to go Cookie!!!  No one seems to mind shaking my hand if I have a glove or gauntlet on.  I just worry about germs.  I carry a clean one in my purse and change after a lot of hand touching.  I bet you felt a lot better after getting back to a new norm.  Becky

Good for you!  Hubby and I dance, althought not folk dancing, and there is a lady in our classes wearing the arm support.  No issues.  Hubby does not know what it is, and I hope he never 'has to' learn about it.

It's funny, my first instinct was to cover up my sleeve, but I think if I need people to adapt for me, take it easy on my shoulder, having the sleeve on display might help. Sadly the dance is moving from Manhattan to deepest Brooklyn, so I am not sure how often I will be able to make it. But it was fun to get that part of my life back.
