Advice needed
I have had a rash on my breast for 6weeks now. I spoke to my
gyn and she told me to go to a dermatologist. I went and he dx a bacterial infection. Antibiotic did nothing. I returned after a week and he did a shave biopsy and switched antibiotics. Went back today. Biopsy showed nothing so he did a punch biopsy. Now have to wait for results. Does anyone think I should go to a breast surgeon? My rash has not gotten worse but has not improved. Red, itcy painful. What do you think? You are all in my prayers. Thank you for any info.

Your situation sounds similar to mine. Except I've seen a Breast Surgeon twice and a dermatologist. Neither would do a biopsy, It's so frustrating! Finally took my Neurologist today, to call and demand one for me, peace of mind is worth the scar in my humble opinion. After reading so much information on Inflammatory Breast Cancer, many people state you have to be your own advocate, plus I've read where women had biopsies and they were negative but other tests like MRI determined IBC.
Praying for you!

I posted on other threads about my current experience. I had a rash under the skin appear 2.5 days ago on my radiated breast. There was some associated swelling but no itch to speak of.
I went to the ER on Monday and was given a blood test and ultrasound which were both normal. I was also given IV antibiotics. Three doctors looked at the rash that day. I returned to the ER on Tuesday for planned follow up and was given more IV antibiotics and some oral penicillen to take at home. The docs at the ER thought it might be cellulitis though I had no pain, fever or abnormal blood.
My GP looked at it today, Wednesday, and I have an appointment with my breast surgeon tomorrow. I will update after that.
I say yes, definitely see your surgeon for another opinion.

Family doctors can do a punch bx in the office.
IBC grows very rapid and would have gotten worse by now. Mine itches and is pink but does not hurt. Sometimes warm to the touch.
The punch bx will say if it is IBC or not. That's how mine was confirmed it was IBC. I presented with nodes in the armpit in 2009. It took a year and half for the rash to appear.
IBC did not show on my MRI or mammogram. After a year and a half it shows as thickened skin on CT.

Update: I saw my BS on Thursday and he said he did not think my rash was cancer but may be related to radiation. He referred me to the rad onc, who I will see on Monday, then see the BS again in 2 weeks. He also gave me a stronger med which I haven't taken yet as am still taking the penecillin.
The good news is the rash has almost totally gone, thank God!
