Liver Mets and Stool Color

This is an indelicate question, but are pale stools (white, clay-colored) associated with liver mets? Has anyone ever had pale stools, then diagnosed with liver mets?  I swear it is always something...

I have NO idea, but hope someone smart writes back soon. I was concerned with the same thing a week or two ago.  I had  light grey stools but it went back to normal the very next day....so I decided not to be concerned.

demiller4 - I'm sorry, I don't know anything about liver mets, but I can tell you my experience with white, clay-colored stools. I had that, plus pee that was the color of root beer, when I was diagnosed with Hepatitis B. In my case, the stool was white because it was lacking in bile from the liver.

There are other causes of white stool, including some medications, but basically a white colored stool isn't normal.

I think it's time for a call to the doc.....don't automatically fear the worst - that may not be the case at all.

Hope you find some answers - and relief - soon.

demiller, I was also going to suggest calling your doc. I had the same thing as blessings, though in my case it was Hepatitis A (acute infectious) that did it for me. I haven't heard of it in liver mets, though.

    Best of luck.

demiller - I have liver mets and have not experienced any white/pale stools either before diagnosis or since. Best to check it out for sure.

I have liver mets and my bilirubin is way up, so I would ask to get labs and see what your bilirubin is.  Are the whites of your eyes a little yellow?

Do Oz devoted 1/2 a show on the color of poop and what it meant. I'm sure if you went to his website and did a search it would come up. It was in sept/oct this year.

Thanks for the information, all. I did look up the Dr. Oz info. It seems as though Mother Nature has corrected the problem for now. I am going to the onco if symptoms return.

It was probably something you ate. I had green...and I meant St. Paddy's Day GREEN...stools for two days during chemo. Freaked me out! Turns out it was due to eating July 4th cupcakes that had blue frosting!
