How Big is your Tumour?

I have been told that I have a largeish tumour 8cm x 10cm in circumference.

Sometime my boob hurts like needles going in, especially behind the nipple, sometimes it aches like fingers pressing in, and sometimes it feels swollen and heavy.

I was just wondering how big is big?

My tumour seemed to appear from nowhere in the space of a month!!

It's IDC Triple Neg and in the milk ducts (I think).  Having chemo to shrink it.

How does your boob feel before, during and after diagnosis?

    Well hello Daysie!  I think you are right that you have a rather large tumor but I have heard of larger!  I don't know what your stage is, but I had a bunch of smaller tumors, the largest being 1.6cm.  I also had extensive DCIS and paget's disease.  My total area of involvement was 7cm. Before my diagnosis, I had some physical symptoms of nipple inversion and the tiny sore but I could never feel any lumps (nor could the surgeons, radiologists or oncologist find lumps).  I did have a very deep, persistant and sharp pain in this breast much like a needle going in. But I had a mastectomy one month later, so I am unable to help you regarding what the breast may feel like during chemo, etc....I hope you get more answers soon!

    Hi Daysie, my story started with nipple itching and inversion. Then after couple of months the tumour appeared from nowhere like yours. Initially it was about 4 cm, so I had four rounds of neoadjuvant chemo.My onco used to order US after each round to keep the track on the size. It was amazing how the tumour was shrinking right after each chemo . By the time of the surgery it had shrunk to 1.5 cm. I did not have much pain in my breast, but during chemo there was a strange sensation of twingling or a sharp stabbing now and then, which I was told was the chemo doing its job.

    I met a lady at my hospital, who had a big tumour and responded completely to the chemo.

    Have faith in your treatment. Look after yourself during chemo. You will get through this.

    P.S. Just off subject. I used to live and study in London and have special feelings for the city and West Yorks where I lived for another 5 years.
