    Hi Sandy,

Don't you wish we could say hi to Sheila?  Know any good (or bad) jokes that might get her attention?

I just finished making the relish and the stuffing is all done.  The cranberry orange relish is done also.  When I get home from work I will have to pick up the veggies for my dish I'm making and make the apple pic.  get the tables ready to set.

Hope you're feeling better, 3jays!  Have a great Thanksgiving!

I had my last class last night - not sure how I feel about that.  Now I have to study on my own, schedule the test, and take it.  One person already took it yesterday (guess he scheduled it before he knew they were making up classes).  He passed.  But I've seen some sample tests and there are questions I don't know the answers to,so without spending my whole life on it, I'm hoping to look at more practice stuff to find out what types of things I'm missing, so I can try to do well.  Not sure if it matters how well I do as long as I pass, but I want to give it my best shot.

Bought a 13.8 lb turkey yesteday.  Hope it's big enough.  I was trying for a 15, but didn't want to look longer.  Last year I think I got a 17 lb turkey and I think it was too much.  Year before I think it was 14 and I thought it was enough...I don't remember.  Oh well, we just won't have as many leftovers. My memory is that my kids got tired of turkey, so I wanted to avoid too many leftovers.

DH likes sweet potatoes.  My mother never made sweet potatoes, so I don't think of them - although since they are sweet, I do like them.  Anyone have any good recipes?  I have a low fat one for mashed sweet potatoes where you just add OJ, orange zest(oops, don't have an orange), brown sugar, cinnamon, and ginger.  It came out okay I think.

An old standby for sweet potatoes would be to peel sweet potatoes and bake until just fork tender.  Cut into smaller pieces and place them in a baking dish. Sprinkle butter pats over the potatoes then sprinkle with brown sugar.  Return to oven until they are quite tender.  Add marshmallows to the top and broil until the marshmallows are toasted.  That makes a sweet potato even sweeter.

My cousin substitutes Red Hot candy for the brown sugar...different.

For me...a baked sweet potato with a dab of butter does the trick.

Oh, Patch and his entourage arrived about 6:30 last night.  It was so special.  I went to the car to greet them but didn't want to scare him.  I looked at him in his car seat and said "Hi" and he gave me the biggest grin.  Then I took him in the house (talking to him all the way) and when I took him from his carseat he laughed at me.  He was so very happy!  He must have rememebred me, and recognized my voice.  He even sat in my lap for a betime story until he realized hat it was for bedtime.  Then he decided that wasn't for him.

We had an over-abundant TG.  My parents, my three children and their significant others and GD all  had a wonderful time together.  We played hours of "Apples to Apples" and ate too much.  Some kids went Black Friday shopping, some came home and put their baby to bed, and some got rear-ended on their way home and got delayed by the wait for the police to come and write up the accident.  But all are safe and happy.  For that, I am Thankful.
