HER2 + recurrence whilst still getting treatment

Hi,

Anyone out there.  I am looking for advise as to next steps, and more than anything else HOPE.

    Faith - is it a local recurrence near the site of your surgery? I was still on herceptin when a second cancer was found in the other breast but it wasn't HER2+ve and it looks like it was there all along but they missed it.

    Just looked at your profile which confirmed it's local - sorry this has happened. Did you have radiation? My cousin in NZ had a local recurrence and ended up having an mx but is fine now many years later.

    I'm in IT too - software engineer.

    I also recurred after having had AC x 4, 12 weekly Taxol with concurrent Herceptin and was then just on Herceptin and in the midst of 30 rads tx when i was dx with IBC.  (My first dx was IDC and DCIS.)  They stopped the Herceptin and switched me to Tykerb and Xeloda and I have been NED for over 2 years.

    Hi,

    I had Mx, 20 Rads, Chemo and Herceptin.  Ooooh there is hope!

    Surgery removed the wee blighters.  CT scans all clear.  Herceptin has been stopped.

    I was initially worried and scared but I am getting accustomed to the idea.  Herceptin for 10 months was great.  Now its time for preventative stuff - nurturing my body, mind and soul...... release anything dis-ease causing thoughts and barriers.  NED NED NED, yeah baby.  So very grateful
