SpecialK, you are almost there! When is your last herceptin? We will have to have a party!!
My DH is going with me this time, maybe I can convince him that we need to celebrate after the appt. It is year since the end of treatment, does that count? We even have a gift card for Longhorn that he won at work. I think a plan is coming together!!!
-
LOOKS LIKE A PARTY!!!!!!!!!YAY.....

-
All clear for Shelly....congrats!!!!!!!!!
-
Yay Shelley - we are on the increments of three plan!!!
-
Hi, all. I was diagnosed in January, had lumpectomy and re-excision in February. Started chemo (6 treatments of TCH every three weeks and Herceptin every week)in late March, followed by 33 radiations ending October 17. Now on Herceptin til March 2012 and Arimidex for five years.
-
Shelly congrats.
twoputter welcome to the group. sorry you have to be here but it is a great place for support.
-
shelley - I have yet to get a straight answer on whether I am receiving 17 or 18 tx of Herceptin, I have #15 next week, so right after the first of the year I will be done! I had a delay starting chemo because I couldn't seem to stay out of the operating room so it will be 17 straight months by the time I am done - I should be having exchange surgery right after the Herceptin is done. My left TE was out all during chemo so I am behind the curve on recon too! Come to think of I am late for almost everything all the time, so this all makes sense, ha! Hope you can convince DH to party at Longhorn!
-
SpecialK, sounds like you have really been through it. I hope you will be done soon and be able to get on the road to recovery. I didn't do any recon but I'm starting to research on DIEP. I don't know if I will be a candidate or not. What kind of implants are you getting?
It was not difficult to convince DH to go to Longhorns. It was like a drive through though. We got there around 6 and had our meal in about 10 minutes and felt like they wanted us to give up the table. It was weird. The food was good though, I can't complain.
-
Shelly glad to hear everything was OK and you were good to go.... SpecialK, it stinks when things don't go as planned but hang in there.
Shelly.... IMHO.... next time take the girlfriends leave the DH at home! LOL Enjoy your meal unrushed.
Amyjo were are you?????
Annette were are you????
-
just hoping the missing sistas are ok....please check in to let us know....starting to worry about my sistas.....prayin...huggggggggs K
-
GranyD - I am back sort of just checking into let everyone know i am ok. I havebeentringto keep up on threading but you girls get way ahead of me sometimes. I havebeenbusy with sewing projects for Christmas. We are having a home made Christmas this year since all the grandchildren wanted me to make them something. I do enjoy sewing and quilting and now that I have my room back I am spending most of my days up there. Matthew loves the quilt I made him for his birthday so now I have to come up with something for his Christmas.
I had some corrective reconstruction surgery last Thursday and I am still trying to get back to my normal. At least the pain is easing up now and I can move around some. I should be fine by the 9th according to the new PS. I like him so much better than the old one. The reconstruction looks a whole lot better now. I am even on both sides and look symmetrical so that is all good.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Off to see what is going on on the other threads. HUGS to all my siestas! -
shelley - yes, it has been a long road, but if it ends well it will have been worth it, right? The plan right now is for silicone implants with some fat grafting over the top. Part of the reason I spent so much quality time with my PS is that I had necrosis on my prophy (which turned out to not be very prophy) side and had skin healing challenges. I am cautiously optimistic that the silicone impants will work - the skin had a lot of time to heal after the left TE came out. If this plan does not work I will pursue another avenue - after 7 months with a TE and a prosthetic I know I am a girl who needs recon if I can get it!
samsue - I have learned to take it one day at a time - I always thought I was pretty patient due to being a military wife, but I have taken it to a whole new level! I also think being able to come to these forums has helped me to stay calm, gather encouragement and knowledge - such a gift! I am so appreciative.
amyjo - my kids (22 & 23) LOVE the things their Nana crocheted for them years ago - handmade/homemade is the BEST! Those things are made by your hands with love!
-
Congrats! I had my surgery on November 16th (NS UMX) but had to go back in December 3rd to have the nipple removed because it didn't make it. Still celebrating one year cancer free! Has been a whirlwind year....3 surgeries but a WEDDING in April after final appointment with the PS (DIEP Flap immediate reconstruction that turned out fabulous in the end). New hubby and I are deliriously happy and ready to have a wonderful cancer free Christmas this year. Bless all 2010 sisters!
