Harley- I don't think he is angry with you. His schedule change has probably nothing to do with you. And I also doubt he wants to dump you. But if you are unhappy - like I was with my first onc--maybe this is your chance to change. I recently saw my first onc and told her how bad a doctor she was to me. I know, I was a bit harsh ( after cancer I don't put up with stuff), but also, this is MY life we are treating, so let me decide who I want to work with and feel comfortable with. I am my own advocate. This might be your chance to change and the universe is telling you that too. At least that is how I see it.

Deanna, loved the shoe story, thanks.
Survivor, good for you. I think I need to say something similar to my GP, if for no other reason, to stand up for myself.
I think I may follow many of you and exercise outside today. I'll have to find a good hat to cover my bald (ish) head. How long did everyone wait after surgery to do pushups? My arms are getting weak.

Harley, I really don't think he wants to dump you, I bet he's not even involved and the schedulers are doing stuff.
The plan for today is 50 minute bike ride once it warms up!
I have to go back and find Deanna's shoe story!
-
Deanna, hahahahaha!!!! Sounds like you survived it!!
-
Quick check-in: did a 45 minutes brisk walk. Actually, I decided to walk home from work instead of taking the subway.
-
Wow Survivor! Nice - 45 minute walk from work is perfect.
DH and I cycled for 50 minutes after it warmed up. Felt good! did some shopping for thanksgiving menu. Lots of prepping tomorrow.
-
Spring- I wish I could have done a bike ride like you did. Nice excersizing! It is getting too cold for it in NYC.
-
I'm here!!! Have had a crazy week. The girl that moved down here in august and works parttime in the office got married on the 11th. So I had to take her shopping on the 10th and find a dress. She has known the man 100 days. Her daughter is also nine months pregnant and I will cover for her when they go to the hospital. Got called in on Friday at 11 am for baby duty and worked 12 hours. Baby is a healthy boy.
This weather is crazy. No tornados in my area. Just a 30 degree diffrence from Thursday morning and Friday morning. Today (Sat) is beautiful and no jacket weather. Chilly this evening but I love it. I'm on night shift and just getting plain lazy. Dd makes sure we get our walks everyday.
Kari - I take 3 ibuprofen before bed and I sleep very good. I am on arimidex too.
My lawyer is asking for a continuence. My ex wants to have the divorce final and I want a settlement first. Hopefully we can get this over with soon. It has been almost 3 years. I hope everyone has a great weekend. What is left of it. I'm helping Michelle with her daughter, new grandson, and new husband on thanksgiving. Her mother is down here too. Have a great one.

Joy have a lovely holiday!
Today it's going to be in the 70's here and DH and I are riding up to explore a new part of the Greenway trails that just opened this month (or very recently). It is supposed to be beautiful!
Survivor, did it warm up some in NYC? Were you able to get out?
-
Joy- Great to hear from you! Sorry that your divorce is still ongoing after 3 years. I hope mine -when I get to it- won't be this long. Though, I am still not ready to make the move, especially now that I am doing another year of Herceptin. Not that I get anything from my H, but I have no family here to ask for help or with whom I could move in. It is hard, and I think the universe is telling me to stay put, at least until I finish the treatment.
Spring- I did make it outdoors and it was a glorious and warm day to be out. Sadly, I spent most of the day indoors working, but I got to ride my bike to work and then to the gym and back to home. I just loved it.
I also had a great 30 minutes workout on the elliptical. I was going to do yoga after that, but decided to go shopping instead at the health food store. I try to eat watercress and organic spinach with tahini sauce every day. I just love those things and got addicted to them.
Hope you all are doing well and getting ready for the holiday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Survivor,
There are NO oncs. in my area, so I will have to keep seeing him. He IS a 2nd opinion onc. The 1st one left the room when I was in mid-sentence, telling him how I was concerned about the risks of
chemo, etc...
Spring,
They first told me that he had 'an emergency'... but today, she said: He had a meeting....
that doesn't sound like a LIFE or DEATH EMERGENCY kind of thing...
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello Everyone-- I somehow managed another workout today. It was a hard class. Total body conditioning. Hoo boy! Then I biked back home. The weather is still nice in NYC. How is everyone doing? Prepearing for Turkey Day?
-
Hi Harley - Sorry - I must have overlooked your post or we might have posted at the same time. I did not see it. Anyway, I am so sorry for what you are going through with your oncs. The first one seem to had a really appalling bed-side manner. The second one is indifferent. Unreal! You poor thing! Thank goodness that you have a good social support. Is this a hospital you go to? Or a private clinic?
-
Survivor, you are doing well!!
We did a 90 minute bike ride yesterday on a new trail. I was off work today and did 90 minute yoga at home to a CD of my teacher after gardening (planted 30 bulbs! mini-daffodils and narcissus) and then did a ton of Thanksgiving veggie prep. Two dishes ready to roast!
-
You go Spring! You're superwoman, you!
-
I didn't like many of the oncs I saw during chemo. The new one seems good though (now that chemo is over).
My exercise is going well..started jogging a little bit. Survivor, how soon after surgery/chemo did you wait before going to a full body class. Hard exercise still intimates me. Maybe I should just jump back in.
Cath -
I walked 3.5 miles this morning. I'm thankful for everyone here that continues to keep me motivated! Shall we all give ourselves and each other an extra push today and tomorrow, so that we can enjoy Thanksgiving guilt-free? Deanna
-
Good idea, Deanna!
So far today 45 minutes of yoga...
-
Cath - I only started doing the total body conditioning class very recently. Let's see: I finished chemo in February (9 months ago) and had my TE exchange surgery in April (7 months ago), after which I waited for about a month before I did anything at all. I wanted to heal properly. Then I did yoga (modified poses) and riding my bike for most of the summer. I think from August on I started to do workouts at the gym. However, even today, I don't do heavy weight lifting. I use 2 lb weights or even less. Even though I "only" had 1 lymph node removed, the chance of getting LE is always high and I am being careful. I still think yoga and certain poses help just as much as a total body conditioning class.
Spring+Deanna: I took a break today, but will work out tomorrow night. Can't wait.
-
Maybe I'm too impatient. I'm making my return to Pilates today, mostly because I miss my Pilates buds. Hope it goes okay. Will try to walk for an hour afterwards. We had snow and ice today, but it's supposed to warm right up in a few days. Crazy weather.
Cath -
I made it the last 3 days in a row after almost 2 weeks of NADA -
I got some kind of weird infection (staph) they think, and the antibiotic makes me so sick! But, I have to stay on it- a month! I'm taking a probiotic too - the only time I don't feel sick is when I am stuffing my chubby face with food! So - I have to exercise - a lot. Great story about the shoes Deanna! You probably started a fashion trend - Happy Turkey Day everyone - I am thankful for all of you!
-
Deanna,
You are right... we should do extra exercise, so we don't have to worry about what we eat tomorrow... You know, I lost weight over the Summer, when I was worried about my shoulder and back pain. NOW, however, I have gained it ALL back, PLUS some.... and I am impatient, because when I exercise, I want the weight to come off RIGHT AWAY!
Thanks, Survivor,
I think he was starting to like me, but it seems to me that maybe he tries to keep a distance from his patients so that he doesn't get hurt when they pass away....
Hope everyone has a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I am so thankful for ALL my breast friends!
Harley
-
I took a 50 minute bike ride in the WIND WIND WIND it was so hard!!! Like riding on a windy beach the "Wrong" way! good workout though. Cold front arrives tomorrow. Sigh. It will warm up again though at some point during the weekend. Another bike ride in the offing...
Happy Thanksgiving!
-
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope each of you has a very special day. We have so much to be thankful for! Deanna
Oh, and yes, I walked today!
-
Yesterday, I had a nice 45 minute walk from work with groceries on my back. Still, I maintained a good pace. It was a good workout.
I would also like to wish Happy Thanksgiving ! I am definitely thankful for having you ALL in my life. This journey is a lot easier because of you, Ladies. Thank you!
-
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends.
Cath -
We had a sunny semi warm day today. Suppose to warm up each day for the next few days. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not ready for the cold yet. It was 47 when I came home from the island. Spent a very relaxing afternoon with friends and I'm stuffed. Work in the morning. Have a great weekend.
Harley - I think your ONC should be a different kind of doctor. Why go into a profession if you can't handle the outcomes.
Hugs to my "family"
-
45 minute walk w/ DD and DH after too much food! Then there was pie..... Biking tomorrow!
-
Hi al!
I read, but do not post much these days. I hope everyone had a great day. I have much to be thankful for, I am cancer free for two years, I exercise almost everyday, and I have a wonderful family that supports me. Exercise has helped me these past two years, when I feel down, I go walking and feel better. I had my mammogram last week and fell apart beforehand. I am thankful my my husband who got me through it. Tomorrow is Zumba and Christmas decorations. Happy Thanksgiving! Keep being motivated!
-
Diane, Congrats on 2 years! Good for you. Studies show gratitude is the key to a happy life.
75 minute bike ride today and 30 minutes of yoga stretching last night to loosen up my poor back that had "had it" from the day of cooking and entertaining in-laws! But after 30 minutes of attention, it felt much better. I feel good that I know what to do to take care of it.
Happy Weekend! Did any of you go crazy for "Black Friday"? I didn't!
