Hi I am the friend of Friend of Hers. I have added the picture. What does this look like? It started to appear red to me right after my initial biopsy of a palpable lump opposite of the redness. It has been three weeks and swelling and redness have continued. I had a another biopsy performed of the skin on Wednesday. Is it possible to have IBC and IDC and DCIS all at once? Starting to freak out.

Sorry Three, I do not have facebook and cannot see the pic. Glad you've had bx. Now just try to breath. And yes I did have IBC, IDC, and DCIS all at the same time. Was a very tuff road but did it and I'm still here 6 years later. Please take care, Kiley

Can you try viewing it here. Or if you have a suggestion to how to post the pictures it would help.

Still not coming up for me. So sorry Three, but it could be a reaction from the biopsy. The main thing Three is you are under a doctors care, I found waiting, well, waiting.... .....My computer is very old and in not sure what my friend set me up with on it. Please Take care and know you are not alone in this...................Hugs, Kiley

Patty-I just inserted a photo from my facebook. I have a Mac. I clicked on the photo while pressing control and shift at the same time. On a PC I think it's a right click. You should get an option to copy image adress. On BC.com, click on the small image of the tree(above the reply area).Paste the image address in the Image URL box and click on "insert".
I hope this helps and didn't confuse you further.

Well...awwww!!!! What a cutie!!

Didn't mean to hijack the thread with a picture of my dog......
I'll remove my post if Patty figures out how to get a picture on here.

you can keep your puppy there. We all need cuteness. My boobs can't compare.hahahaha
-
OK-the puppy stays!
I don't have any experience with IBC. Hopefully someone else will come along that does.

Bumping this up for you, Patty. I'm hoping someone will see this and give you some feedback.

Can everyone see the pics? What do you think?

I'm currently going under tests to find out what my nasty rash is on my breast. So I don't know much, but it does look red, but honestly the other breast looks bigger to me, might just be the pic?
-
WWM,
I was reading your blog as well. Hugs to you hope all is well. Have you had a biopsy? Can you tell me the symptoms you have been having. Its crazy waiting. Hoping for good news for us both. Yes the non red looks bigger but its really from the angle, I am rather large so the swelling is hard to see but my red breast is bigger. It pops out the bottom and top of my bras.
-
three17- No need to freak out- your doc will make a diagnosis. In my case, they decided to treat it as though it was IBC and diagnose it that way just to be safe, but it may not be. We have chosen to believe that it is not because the alternative is just to worry that it would come back. As long as they do the chemo before the surgery, in my opinion there is really no benefit to knowing for sure- this is why I didn't let them do the skin biopsy on me- it was either going to be bad news or uncertain news. No good news could have come from it! Obviously, each of us has to make her own decisions. You'll be in my prayers!
-
Abatellik,
I have a quick question. Your diagnosis says IBC Grade 2? I thought there were only 2 grades III and IV?
Can you explain how this works.
-
You may be thinking of Stages. Grade refers to rate of growth. There are 3 grades. 1 is slow growing, 2 is medium growing and 3 is fast growing.

I think your rash is being caused by your biopsy site. It is obviously in a radius around it.
My IBC rash was higher up on the breast - now, the thing about IBC is that my opinion, or anyone's opinion, doesn't matter. You have to be biopsied - but I would try alternative treatments for an infected wound first. If it doesn't go away, pursue it and insist on skin punch biopsies.
IBC is not a death sentence. It IS a huge challenge but if it's caught early you can have great results. I was diagnosed 14 months ago and was declared cancer-free in May. One of our "benefits" is that often neoadjuvant chemo is done - chemo before surgery. That way you can really literally see if the chemo is working, and know if your team has chosen the right one, and if not, change it up.
Don't panic, and watch the site. If you see any of the other symptoms - peau d'orange, flattened nipple, or the rash doesn't retreat, then insist on the proper biopsies.
-
Thank you Pamonymous,
This biopsy site is the first Punch site after the redness has been here for three weeks. My original biopsy site is not pictured and healed rather nicely after a little bruising. I agree it really doensn't matter I need to get the biopsy results. thank you for your support and I am glad you Ware doing well.I will be persistent on proper biopsies. Thanks again.
-
I see, I apologize for misunderstanding. Well then you can definitely be comforted by the fact that it's dead center of the problem, anyway.
Waiting is awful. Is the rash the same now as it was before?
Try to stay away from researching. Seriously, you absolutely can't learn a thing about your case from the internet. Obviously there are sometimes such strong clinical symptoms on a person that the IBC dx can be made, but that's definitely not the case for you.
But as I said before, even if the news is bad, there's plenty of hope and reason for optimism.
-
Patty, when will you get the biopsy results? The waiting is horrific, and I'm so sorry it's happening to you. But in the meantime, I just wanted you to know that what you're describing is the way truncal lymphedema sometimes presents. In that case the redness is inflammation (which is part of the lymphedema process). There's usually swelling and there can be skin changes as well -- either hardening or peau d'orange texture. The redness does not respond to antibiotics (because it's not an infection), but it does respond to gentle lymphedema treatment. It does not show up on imaging either, so it sometimes stumps our doctors. So if your doctors remain stumped, encourage them to write you a referral for an evaluation by a well-trained and experienced lymphedema therapist. Here's help to find one in your area:
http://www.stepup-speakout.org/Finding_a_Qualified_Lymphedema_Therapist.htmCall ahead and ask how much experience they've had with truncal lymphedema. (There's also a page about truncal lymphedema on that website).
Nobody'd wish lymphedema on anyone, but it sure is a better thought than IBC!
Be well!
Binney -
I did not have redness, but my swelling did respond to antibiotics even though it was not an infection.
-
Thank you for your responses. The good news is that there were no cancer cells found in the biopsy. But my doctor's are not letting it go until theyfind out what it really is. I am glad for their pesitance as well. My biopsy canme back with dialated venules and lymphocytes present. I have not responded to antibiotics, and am now on a steriod cream. Still pink, still swollen. It looks like there is a new area of pink beginning and my nipple had become sore. Could be all the examinations too. I see an oncologist early next week to determine if chemo should be given before my surgery. Thank you everyone. will keep you updated.
-
Binney,
Did you say this occurs after surgery, or removal of the nodes?
I have only had a biopsy, is this possible to develop?
-
Hi Everyone, We just wanted to remind you- though probably not necessary - to please always visit a physician (or get a second opinion) if you are at all concerned. While our boards are a terrific place to get fabulous input and suggestions, you should still always get it looked at by a physician and get the necessary testing.
Thinking of you,
Your Mods

Thank you to all, yes I agree witht he mods, second opinions are great. I thank all of you for reminding me to be persistant. I have a great doctor who is equally concerned about my redness. She has had everyone int he office see me and look at my pink spot. My skin is noew beginning to show some holes like the oranfge peel skin, a dry patch and to me it looks "hotter" and bigger. My biopsy came back with no cancer cells, but lymphocytes and dialated venules. I have been on an antibiotic for two and half weeks and no change. I am now on a steriod cream and to me it looks more pink than red but still evident. My doctor wants me to see a medical oncologist Monday to discuss chemo before surgery. If the Drs can not find oput what is wrong, or causing the pink they may treat it like IBC. But we will cross that bridge when we get there. Keeping positive thoughts during this difficult time. Thank you all for your suport.
-
My doctors feel it is not IBC. My prayers to all those with this horrible disease. I have a blockage of my lymph system caused by the IDC tumor. Thank you for the support and well wishes. I will continue to pray for you, my "sisters".
