Ok so I have the biggest baddest red spot on my LE arm ever. The only problem is I have been on the is this cellulitis merry-go-round so many time. I caught Dr. Francis in the office....but I can't get to her until the end of the week at best. About to pop my emergency levaquin.

I happened to have the levaquin, I took it. I am working out in the country, and really think the most likely fate is that they would mistreat me. I have no problem going to see someone tomorrow, or even in a few hours if it gets worse.

I am glad I banked a few pills. I get done with my shift at 11, if it really looks worse then I will go.

    Cookie!!

Not again--the odd rash that no one can quite diagnose. I hope it goes away quickly.

The good news about levaquin is that the blood levels are just as high with the pill as with an IV: and I agree, a local ER would likely be clueless: you've stumped experts before.

If you feel lousy, then get seen tonight, but if not, call Dr. Francis and let us know how you're doing.

I got her on the phone...she agreed. She said it works out that I have enough L to get me to Friday, when I am off. If it's still a crisis I will go see her then.

I have a suspicion that spot is somehow a "window" on my circulation. I have been taking primatene since my athsma flair and suspect that might have been it.

I do need to go see a pulmanologist for my athsma. I just can go for years without symptoms.

I also carried a bag in that hand, I also wore a new shirt today. It seems to be calming down.

    Peace all!

Cookie--I heard primatene was no longer on the market. The definition of mild, intermittant asthma is that you do go years between flares--but they can be severe when they come on.

I have the full round of scripts from the allergist: pulmicort, ventolin, singulair--and often I have to toss the ventolin and pulmicort as they expire, but I do take the siingulair. Oh, and rhinocort.

Once, I worked in a moldy office, and all the people on the floor where  I worked had bad asthma--and I got so sick, and was on prednisone, and my coworker--a really sweet guy--was telling me this horror story of a cousin who had an asthma "perfect storm"--a cold, cut the grass, in a house with cats and ended up really sick.

Check the expiration date on your primatene, but those inhalers--ventolin, etc--are like getting a shot of the sympathetic nervous system/adrenaline--and they do vasoconstrict and make you shaky.

Glad you got Dr. Francis on the phone and have the levaquin--is she refilling it on Friday?.

Well arm looks about 96% better today. Francis really does not think it is probably cellulitis, but since I had the pill it seemed like a reasonable precaution.

It actually did a number on my stomach last night. I am so not sure I should even take another one.

Normally I give these 24 hours and they are always gone...but last nights was really large..

WTF or should I say WTHK? (who the hell knows)

Cookie, I vote for one more--but really WTHK? My LE therapist used to work with Robert Lerner MD in NYC--Dr. Francis' predecessor--and he had this kind of three day rule--doesn't really apply here, but if there was a threat--a puncture, a little redness--he would prescribe three days of prophylactic antibiotics.

So hard to know what to do with the mystery rash.

    Don't work too hard.

    It's better today.

It's never a rash, always smooth, always near the "patch" where my le bubble first popped up. This one was slightly raised and almost perfectly egg shaped. Looks like the worlds biggest bug bite.

My suspicion is due to the atypical nature of my le and my propensity for flushing it's something like that, but hot.

    WTHN!!!!!

I have a theory. When I have asthma I do not wheeze. I cough and my cheeks turn warm and bright red like I have a fever.(Ironically at one point they thought I might have a benign lung tumor, since my asthma was so atypical and I had to have a few tests to pin in down.)

Is it possible that since LE has changed my circulation I now flush and turn red on my arm? Both experts have always had doubts it was really cellulitis.
