Hey, there!  I am sorry you are facing this.  I have not had this, but I wanted to bump this so that it would still be up there for someone who has.  By the way, what tx did you have?  Is this in a breast after lumpectomy plus rads, or in other breast after umx?

Sorry you're having to go through this so soon again! Very discouraging that calcifications are back right after rads. I thought they were supposed to zap all those buggers. Frown

Juliet62 sorry you have had this come up on your mammogram. In my "unaffected" breast the mammo shoed macro-calcifications when in my "affected" breast the micro-calcifications showed up. They were not concerned with the big ones at all but I ended up having the small ones and surrounding area surgically removed. Hopefully you have caught these so early that they are ADH or very early DCIS and a lumpectomy will get rid of them for you. I didn't do rads after my lumpectomy as no malignancy was found and they upgraded ADH to DCIS based on size and architecture of the cells excised. Hopefully this is what you have.

So sorry you are back on the rollercoaster so soon after treatment, waiting to find out if this is something or not. Frown  I have heard that both surgery and rads can cause calcifications, so hold onto hope that the results will be benign!  Unfortunately, you have to go through the biopsy to find out for sure.  Keep us posted!

the calcicifcations are sort of expected  p treatment,  but its the pattern thats  the concern! will have mri and then go from there, offered mri or stereotactic but would like the big picture before make anymore decision, thanks for all your reply's

I, like you, had a DCIS diagnosis in July 2008.  This was in my left breast.  I had lumpectomy (surgical excision due to small size of breasts not being big enough for stereotactic procedure) and actually no further treatment of any sort based on lengthy discussions with doctors (my DCIS was 1.6 mm in size).  Flash forward to July 2011, and my yearly mammogram showed another area of microcalc's in that same pesky left breast.  I had to go through another surgicual excision/lumpectomy, however this time around the results were B9 . . . so, having microcalc's show up again does NOT necessarily mean you are having another problem.  My calc's were in a 'loose grouping' and not linear as you state that yours are, however as I said they were B9!  You of course will not know for sure until further testing, but just wanted to assure you they can definitely be B9.  Good luck.

Juliet when you say the microcal's were expected, what do you mean?

as calcifications  form after cell  injury they expect some after surgery and rads, its the linear pattern thats causing the concern, as it may indicate something in the duct again
