Athena - was it the one where the lions were chasing warthogs?
Just did a load of ironing - having a rest before I do DH's shirts. I did iron my new pants and some shirts for work.
DH still glued to the golf and he promised he was going to do some work today.
Poppy is in 7th heaven on our bed - check her out - the photo doesn't do the pose justice.

-
Pretty kitty! Obviously queen of her castle.
-
She's dead to the world - DH keeps going in there during the ad breaks and practicing putting and she didn't move a muscle. I do love her - too much I think. She has the softest fur you have ever felt.
-
Better angle - she is a contortionist:

-
DH's shirts done - sweaty work in this weather. Was going to go out and finish the watering, but it's still a bit too sunny out there.
-
Had a long, strange, but fun day. I work every weekend, so I dragged my carcass in this morning, only for them to remind me (D'oh!) that I had asked for the day off to go to my niece's high school play (Once Upon a Mattress; she was the jester and got a few duets and a solo.). With the morning and afternoon free, I decided to go to a cat show at the State Fairgrounds and pick up some toys for the girls and watch the judging.
And I just had to go pet the shelter kitties up for adoption. Just pet them - I swear! And fell head over heels for this sweet, 12 wk old, long-haired black kitten. I think she's fluffier than Lucy was at that age, so she's going to be a total puffball. She's also a polydactyl (extra toes) and a real sweetheart. I'd always vowed I'd never have more than two kitties for fear of turning into one of those 'cat ladies', but I just couldn't leave her. It's a no-kill shelter, but still... Since I do work tomorrow, I can pick her up Mon. I'll post a few pics when I can.
Her name is Penny now. I like the name, but my brother has a cat named Penny, so I'm contemplating calling her Penelope for less confusion.
-
Resistance is futile when a kitty calls for you to come get them and take them home
She sounds adorable ... looking forward to the pictures! -
This is the 2nd kitty in the last few months who picked me instead of the other way around. And yes, resistance is futile.
-
Finished watering the garden and decided to put my swimsuit on and vacuum downstairs - the sweat was literally dripping off me when I finished. Went out and fell in the pool - the only way to do work around the house

Wet Susie

-
Agree, resistance is futile.
So last night I made porkchops stuffed with stuffing, onions, celery and sausage. MEAT! And made roasted red potatoes along with spinach. Yum!
Heading out to our favorite weekend breakfast spot, Peg's Cafe, to have some eggs benedict. Double yum!
Today is DH's Bday and I am taking him out for dinner.
-
Well, we were helping some puppies from a kill shelter and now we are fostering one...
We now have 4 dogs in the house counting the foster.
Now we have a dog for each child.

Hubby is not very happy.
-
Still chuckling at WR's comment re: The Lioness watching animal documentaries....
I LOVE those kind of "lazy" days - have them very often. The world is strange, and WARM, almost 60, sunny - Chritmas Cactus are in FULL bloom, I keep them outside in sunshine in summer. Have a HUGE HUGE jasmine, which also lived outdoors, AND I gave it many "cool" nights, but it still hasn't got a bud on it. Impossible to describe how BIG this Jasmine is - and I live in such a wee, wee, little space. Just so wanting it to Bloom - yes, I ask it nicely if it needs anything, just water

Maybe you ladies can help me. My son found a stray kitten at walmart a few weeks ago. He took him home, had him nutured, but now the vet seems to feel he has something called fip. Does anyone know anything about it. He is just the sweetest kitten.
By the way this is the son who got married 1 week ago!
-
Kira: FIP stands for Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and it is fatal, there is no tx for it. I lost a beautiful Siamese, Coco, to FIP at the age of 6 months. It's heartbreaking....
-
lindasa, How can they tell for sure if that's what he has? The other thing is they have a 5 year old female cat. Is there any chance she could get it? The vet feel he is about 6 months or so now. His belly is getting rather swollen is that part of the disease? They hate the thought of putting him down, but also don't want him to suffer. What I've told them is at least he knows he is loved now.
-
kira ... I found this fact sheet that might be helpful ... http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/fip.html
Poor kitty
but you are right ... at least it will have had some time to be loved and taken care of.I was a little surprised to read that FIP is not highly infectious. Sounds like the older cat should be OK ... but I think I would play it extra safe and keep them separate.
Ang7 ... I believe the defintion of fostering is "I just haven't admitted that he/she is staying yet". Puppy pictures are always appreciated also.
-
Yes, the belly gets quite swollen and the cat becomes lethargic. The testing that was done on Coco (7 years ago) was VERY expensive -- over $700 -- and probably unnecessary. I can't remember all of it now, but perhaps if you google it.....there's probably a much simpler (and cheaper) test by now. And yes, it was extremely, extremely hard to have Coco euthanized -- he was so loving, so affectionate, so beautiful. But, he would have suffered so much if we hadn't.
I remember the vet telling us that it's not usually contagious, but is something that the kitty is born with, and nearly always strikes before the age of 2. We had another cat Toffee, a burmese, at the same time and the same age, and he is now the grand old age of 8!
But as I said -- it's heartbreaking, especially as poor kitty hasn't had a chance to really live and enjoy life.
-
Hah -- WR beat me to it! Thanks!
-
It is so sad. They have already payed for the testing, they just are a bit in denial I think. He has had diarrhea since they got him, and now the pot belly. My DS has become so attached to him so quickly.
WhiteRabbit, Thanks for the article. It was very informative. I'm going to pass it on to them.
-
kira ... you obviously have a most excellently good-hearted son! Hope he can take some comfort in knowing that although this rescue did not go as planned he did save that kitten from a much worse fate than being gently put to sleep surrounded by love.
Edited to add: All this is assuming that FIP really is what he has. I did read that there is no test that can definitely confirm it. Worms can cause a swollen belly too but I have to think that they would have tested for that. He could take the kitten for a second opinion if he is not convinced that it is FIP.
-
Suesie..Poppy looks like she's doing 'Yoga' poses. Lots of our ladies look like that:).
Swimming suit?? For real? GG it's in the 30's here!
-
Sometimes it seems like Susie lives in an alternate universe doesn't it!
-
The vet had him on an anti biotic which was making things worse. He was wormed when they first got him. He and his new wife are very warm hearted. All the pets they have came from the pound or as in this case a poor abandoned animal. I suppose he got it from his parents. For years we were foster parents.
-
It is an alternate universe here - we never have 'real' seasons here like a proper Fall. It's not even officially summer but stinking hot already. Hope it's not a precursor to a really hot summer.
Poor kitty - good to hear they are caring for him.
Sue
-
Kira, so sorry about the kitty. My heart breaks for your son.
-
OK, you asked...this is Ellie foster pup, 4 months old, 6 pound terrier mix.
Seems to love kids, other dogs and warm laps.

-
Sue they love him. He was being kept in a large cage, but now has run of the house. He seems to be doing better since they took him off the antibiotics. I just can't figure it. He has lots of energy, and eats all the time. He is eating 2 small cans of cat food daily, as well as eating luna the other cats food if he can get it. He will even eat the dog food if nothing else is around to eat.
-
Ang7 your foster pup is so cute.
-
kira ... lots of energy and eating well. I sure wouldn't jump too fast to do anything if the kitten is still feeling well.
Hope Linda comes back here ... she is the one with first hand experience with FIP.
That's a cute puppy you have there Ang7!
-
Kirs
I feel so bad for he kitty and your son.
Ang
That is one cute dog!
