Wow! All o you have been through a lot! I was just Dx on 10/4/11 & I'm finding that the SE of the meds creep up on you. I really can't complain to much yet. Just total exhaution, in bed, & the stinking diarrhea is killing me. I'm so raw I didn't think it was possible. TMI-sorry for that. But if that's all the SE to complain about inreally am lucky. Usually there's someone worse of than you & boy ladies I can't imagine going through some of yours. I'm going through body (1x a week) & brain Chemo via spinal (2xs a week). The spinal Chemo methotrexate kicks my trash but I only have 2 more weeks of that one! WOOT! WOOT! It knocks me flat on my kester where I've been the last 2 weeks. I do get out for for a drive (someone has to drive me around) or do at least try to get out & hit an occasional store but other than that you know where I am. I can't wait for 2 weeks to be over. My brain cancer to be in remission & to get so energy back:). Just to get up, dressed, shower is like running a marothon:o
Ok enough of that:). I do feel better. Great idea ladies:) Be strong, go big or go home, NO REGRETS:).
Sleep Tight

Thanks. Indeed I do have the heart of a lion as I'm a Leo:) I can be pretty stuborn & fight like crazy:) I believe we are each given what we can handle. Mines no worse or better just different. I'm just SO lucky that the treatment is SO effective on me. I've been doing a lot if mental/visualization & have already seen myself well & healed. The mind is so powerful & my music training has taught me this:)

I LOVE Tappys bi-line. So true! As for the hemmroids I too have the nasty things. Have you tried Tucks? This maybe TMI but it totally helps. I use the Tucks to cool between D isssues (helps the bleeding too) & will often use 1-3 per session just to get through. The witchazel is so refreshing! My ing also gave me a foam I use 2xs a day (morning/night) w/an applicator-Ahhh. Then my ing gave me some Hydrocortizine cream 2.5% that I use for my bottom 1-4 times in between. Sorry for the TMI but it really is helping. I'm also taking lomotil till I can stop/control the D. I've heard that one of the ladies on here takes 1 imodium (OTC) a day & that seems to help her. Don't know if any of that's helpful for you but there it is:)
I hope you all have a great day. I know mines already better than y-day:) Yeah. Prob cause my ing is giving me a break from the Tykerb & it's nasty SE. Yeah for the small things in life:) You ladies are awesome & have helped me SO much already. I don know what I do w/o you & these awesome conversations:)
Big Hugs to all

OK, sas, this is what I know. Guy Fawkes was a dude in London who joined a radical group who wanted to change the national religion back to Catholocism. So he and his buds rented an undercroft beneath the House of Lords and filled it with gunpowder. But the plot was betrayed and guess who the poor mope was that was on guard duty that night? Yep. Poor Old Guy. He was arrested, hung, drawn and quartered and his body was burned. Now it's a yearly celebration of an excuse to have bonfires and blow things up. I found out about it by watching the movie V for Vendetta. Don't you just love obscure holidays?
The cookout went really well. Now all my DD's friends are taking turns hosting one at their house every weekend. When it gets too cold, we just light up the chimenea. Thanks for asking!

OK. So I'm not really cheezed. In fact, I'm pretty happy cause my Raider just beat my husband's Chargers tonight. 24 to 17. We are a house divided during football season. I explain it this way: He is my first passion and the Raiders are my secomd passion. My Raiders won so I'm happy. His Chargers lost so I'm gonna have to do something to make him happy. The way I see it- we both win! Have a great day cheeze heads!
Nips up! Carry on!

RaiderDee, glad to hear your team won and happy to hear hubby even gets some out of it ;-).
-
As for me, well I haven't been feeling as well after this 3rd round of chemo. SEs are all over the place so watch out people in my path :-).
Here's my cheeze for the day... so why is it that when I tell my hubby someone is an idiot he has to defend them or tell me I'm being negative, etc. The husbandly thing to do would be to just agree (it wasn't like it was a friend or anything). Our dealership/service effed up and said something wrong and I told my hubby the guy was an idiot. Well, hubby is in a mood so I don't get his support, but of course the effing the dealership does.
So, move ahead to a day later, my car comes home and it's NOT fixed the way it is suppose to be. BTW, I drive a Lexus and when the car comes back from the shop, I expect it to be perfect. WTF??? The quality control crap over there bites and the car has to go back in again on Monday. Sooooooooooooo, once again I tell my hubby... now do you agree they are idiots??? I actually called the service guy to tell him that not only was I pissed that they did a shoddy job and sent the car back to my hubby that way.... I told him that he caused a fight between my hubby and I too so I AM DOUBLY PISSED. Okay... maybe now my hubby can agree with me?

TalllM:: I am so sorry that you are having a difficult time. I wish you prayers and positive energy on your journey to wellness!
Now for my rant of the day. Thursday my Granddaughter brought my Great granddaughter over to see me. She is a delight, cute, chubby, and the best baby ever! My GD was crying her eyes out because my selfish son (her father) has pretty much ignored them. She says she feels like he treates her like she was a "mistake". He was unhappy about the baby and didn't want to be a Grandfather at his age! He has pretty much refused to help her financially, and now rarely returns her calls. She was a child from a previous relationship he had before he married my DIL. They have a child together, and she is beautiful, spoiled, and basically rules the home. I love her unconditionally, but she is a typical teenager right now, and wants for nothing. Just got a boob job for her 18th birthday as well as a nice car to drive, while her sister drives a broken down car that could die at any moment!
I would like to kick my DS's a$$ all over town for his bad behavior, but he would only take it out on my GD, so I just sit and fume about it. Now I know why kids get disinherited...I'm seriously thinking of changing my will to give half of his inheritance to my GD and GGD, to care for their future needs, since I know he won't do it. Any money I leave to him will go to my other GD, because my DIL will make sure of that.

Hi everyone,
I just found this thread and have added it to my favorites. People don't get it, is right! I've had my cancer compared to be elderly. Of all things! I so wanted to shout out that at least she had the chance to become elderly!! ARGH!! My Dh is pretty good, he listens to my complaints and tries to help me with things. When I'm extrememly fatigued he chips in more to help at home, even though he is working out and I'm still on disability. Most others in my life though, sheesh! I have carpal tunnel, or I have a cold, I had a bad day at work. OMG!! Maybe it's mean of me, but I am starting to come back to answering their complaints with my own. Saying I'd be happy to switch places with you! They all reply, 'no'. Ar$e$. That's my rant of the day, and thanks for this thread!!!

Today I'm shaving my head:o It started coming out in bunches Thurs & is getting worse-so Yucky! I can't wait to get it off. Yet nervous too. I want to be in charge of when it comes out & not the ca! I've tried to prep myself for this but can one really be ready. At least I'll be faster getting ready & won't have to pick hair up! Wish me luck. No more "pretending" that I don't have ca. All can see now.
Have a good day everyone. -
TallM, I hope this day goes as easily as possible for you. I actually felt better after I shaved my head. At least, it was something I could control. Do you already have a wig or some pretty hats or scarves for your head? Please do something nice for yourself today. Sending hugs to you.
-
TallM: I went with my DD to the flea market the other day where they have a very nice selection of wigs. We both picked one out, put them on and wore them all day. I can't believe how great they look. She was thinking of cutting her beautiful long hair, and I talked her into getting a shorter wig instead and she looks adorable.
Don't know if I'll lose my hair, because I'm not going to do chemo or radiation, but my hair is so bad anyway that the wig was a blessing! It makes me look younger, according to my DD, so it must be true!
A friend of mine got breast cancer several years ago, shaved her head, and her husband shaved his to support her. They looked so cute together...both bald. She wore these beautiful fashion earrings that made her look very exotic.
Hold your head high and face your challenge head on...all the best to you!
-
Thanks everyone:). I went to my hair dresser today & she suggested I get a short pixie cut 1st. Even though my hair is falling out she said since it's not patchy yet that's what she'd do. I'm SO glad I listened. It feels SO much Breyer to not have stringy hair & have it falling out whenever I run my fingers through it.
I will get a wig-I like all the suggestions in that direction & the ladies that I've seen w/a wig look great.
Thanks for all the support. Have to say my morphing body is a different sight than I'm used to. The steroids, wt gain, Chemo rash face, short hair. I take a double look just about everytime I look in the mirror:o Well a new experience/adventure. I'll embrace my inner beauty & go w/that.
Big hugs to all

Chirp, chirp. I'm cheezed off about a bunch of family crap that I won't bother getting into. (Everybody lives in different states and still can't play nice, WTF?) Anyway, just checking in.
Nips up- carry on!
-
Raider-
Let it out! It feels much better:). I'm tired of people acting like brats cause they don't get there way so they complain that things aren't just like they want them! Oi. Grow up people.
That does feel better. Ah now I can move on:)
Have a good one all-
Malinda -
Hey, Everyone! And welcome, Newbies. Been down with a bada$$ attack of diverticulitis for the last 2 weeks. Ugh!
Praying that everyone who is hurting is comforted and someday other people will finally understand what we're going through. Till then, we have each other. Love you Ladies!
Rocky, I have a husband who won't stand up to any service people who do shoddy work. So when the dealership sees me coming, they probably yell, "Run! It's that crazy biatch again!"
Nips up...carry on!
-
I got my dx this week and it's IDC low grade 1, stage 1. I guess I should be really pissed that all the healthy clean living I've done all these years didn't pay off in the end, but actually, I feel blessed that it isn't worse. Now I have to begin the journey through surgery and treatment options that the bs will try and talk me into. He hasn't yet realized that I've already done a ton of research...thinks he's going to be talking to a real novice. Not looking forward to that!!
-
Hi Everyone-
I had BMX with DIEP & free TRAM about 3 weeks ago. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. On day three ... I looked at my left hand and this is what I saw:
Can you add anymore tape? I have more tape on my arm too. Anyway, I only can laughed.
Nipless...carry on!
-LA
-
9911, OMG... looks like a sauna suit for your hand! Now we know why our insurance costs are sky high... the hospital is charging by the foot!
Nips up (or off)!
-
9911- as an RN that starts those IVs, I have to say that that might be the most tape I have ever seen! I tend to be more strategic with it. That being said, IVs can be hard to start and the people on med surg floors often don't have a lot of experience (I do L&D so I do them all the time). So, once you have a good one--no one wants to lose it! No hair on that hand, huh?
Nips off here-
Jane
-
9911, I hardly noticed the tape. I was focused on the stylish hospital gown . Glad to know they look the same everywhere. I prefer puce green but the light blue with nonthreatening, nonsensical geometric patterns are nice too.
My 70 year old Mom had hip replacement surgery today. I hope she's ok. My 75 year old DB of a step dad never called, texted or emailed to let me or anyone else know how she did. I'm sorry I only bought you a computer and a cell phone specifically so you could keep me in the loop since you live in another state. Next time I'll provide your own personal servant so you won't have to be bothered with such trivial annoyances such as communication ya jackass.
Nips up, carry on!
-
Finally got a call from my step dad this morning. My Mom is doing well. They didn't get started on her hip replacement until late in the afternoon so she didn't get out of recovery and into a room til around 9 at night. I know I should cut him some slack cause he's old but damn, you couldn't call me last night and give me that info? I stand by my jackass assessment.
Nips up. Carry on!
-
RaiderDee: Sorry about your mom. People can be really insensistive to others needs. When it's your mom that is involved, that makes it worse. Sounds like your stepdad might be a little passive agressive...that's usually how they handle resentment...holding out info when they know the other person wants it. He probably won't change, so you have to figure out how to navigate around it.
Have a great weekend!
-
RaiderDee- Yes, it is true ... the tape disappear because of the gown. Maybe that's why the RN keep adding tape. I offered to take the gown home for my Halloween costume. When you wear this gown ... everyone comes to you and do their magic on you and disappear. It's very special!
Janeybw- The first IV was started for surgery. It had very little tape on it. I had to have a second IV .. . I needed a blood transfusion. You can see it near the base of the thumb by the wrist. Well, you know ... they didn't want to take the 2nd IV out ... more tape please. All the nurses have a roll of tape in their pockets. I guess when you tear the tape ... it only comes in a long strip. I had fun showing of my tape collection.
Rockym- How did you know my room was turned into a sauna! I had a "keep the door closed" sign. The room was 80* and I also had a Bear Hugger on surrounded with pillows everywhere.
If I had PPO ... I would have to fight for getting charged by the inch on tape. My sister just recievied a bill for "sterilize surgical needles" used in her DIEP stage 2 surgery. You would think they can figure it out it's part of the surgery. WHY would anyone just have "sterilize surgical needles"? I have HMO.
Nips-free ... Carry on!

Here's what cheezed me off today.
Finding out my ten year old's Spanish teacher, who is also her homeroom teacher, and who called me last week concerned about my daughter's behavior, scheduled a class discussion of the Day of the Dead in which she asked the kids to discuss people they knew who had died. Fully aware that I had been diagnosed with breast cancer, she did not prepare my daughter in any way or excuse her from the discussion. One of the girls commented that her mom had said her grandmother died of breast cancer and that that meant that she (the mom) and the daughter were probably going to get it. We had not explained the genetic link to BC as that was not something we wanted to burden an as yet boobless 10 year old with. The Spanish teacher didn't correct the other child and she did not tell me this class discussion had happened when she called. Hmm, wonder why she has seemed more stressed at school lately?
GRRRR!
-
LuLu22, I have a 9 1/2 year old and I would be SOOOO PISSED OFF! I looked up the Spanish translation for her teacher. Tell the teacher that we at BCO think "eres un insensible dipshit" in other words... she is an insensitive dipshit!
I haven't talked with my daughter about the genetic link either since the last thing I want her worrying about is her own soon to be breasts. Of course, since the topic was brought up, I suppose now is your chance to set things straight. If it were my daughter, I would let her know the no one is "probably" going to get anything and I would reassure her that by the time she is grown up they will either have a cure or a quick pill to get rid of cancer cells. -
LuLu that teacher really should be reported. They are supposed to take care of our children not scare the **** out of them. I hope you let her have it.
-
I'm sending off an email today and copying her co-teacher. I figured I'd better wait to calm down so I could use words like "concerned" and "upset" instead of "What the f$%# were you thinking s^&% for brains!"
Ironically, she's a great Spanish teacher I've really liked until now. I think she just wasn't thinking about the impact this could have on my daughter, but considering that she's well aware of my illness I find it untenable.
My daughter's comment to me was "Mom, you can't catch cancer!" and I was able to reinforce that with her. As to the genetic link, my kids are adopted so my cancer won't increase their chances of getting the disease, but I knew talking about this could open a whole Pandora's box of emotions about her birth mom and the limited information we have about her health history. She also has a classmate whose mother had breast cancer a few years ago and I knew she'd be worried about her friend.
-
Oh the things people say, and they have no idea how this will impact others. You say she's a really nice teacher, so this was not some deliberate act, it was just done out of total unawareness of the unintended consequences. I always use the word "disappointed" because it doesn't show that I'm upset or angry in any way, just disappointed in the a person's way of handling a particular situation.
This can be a great learning experience for your daughter to help her understand how a person's words can unintentionally hurt others, and why we should always think before we speak.
I wish you all the best!

My DD called this morning to tell me she couldn't do the turkey for Thanksgiving because she has an emergency casting call, and her dog is sick and at the vets and she's very concerned about her. She was bawling over the phone about she doesn't know what she'll do if something happens to the dog. What I wanted to say and didn't is that she over feeds the dog, the dog is overweight, and being a bulldog, has trouble breathing anyway, so basically now the dog is sick.
She finally gets around to asking about my tests....I tell her, and she shugs that off like it was nothing. I have learned not to count on her for anything, but this really hurt me. A little show of emotional support for me, how hard would that be to give. Apparently very hard, because she doesn't do it..ever! So there I was at the store at 7:00 AM this morning, buying a huge turkey and an extra breast that is barely going to fit into my oven. I'm doing the side dishes today and cooking them so all I have to do is heat them up tomorrow after the turkey is cooked. It's called BACK UP PLAN!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
