My cousin has raved about the hcg drops, but I am concerned because of brca1.  However, my cancer was not evident in any nodes, and because of the brca1 gene, I had a bi-lat mastectomy and a hysterectomy.  I have only (!) a vagina left, no cervix, either.  Any ifo???

    The main mode of action of HCG is to stimulate the ovaries, so if your ovaries are removed, that shouldn't be an issue.  I'm skeptical of the genuineness of hcg drops.  What do they contain?  HCG is a peptide, ie a string of amino acids.  Can it survive digestion?  Or do you put it under your tongue (sublingual)?  HCG is typically adminstered as a subcutaneous injection.

     As well, even it is a source of HCG, what is intended purpose?  If it's fat loss, I thought that notion was debunked.  It's likely the dieting practices that account for weight loss and regain, and not the hcg.

    I am sorry, cannot answer your question, but saw that you had both surgeries. Could you tell me if you were advised to do a particular one before the other?  I am having mastectomy/reconstruction and then hysterectomy, but no one has said if one would be better before the other.   Thanks.

    Hi Ladybug

    I am trying to make a firm decision between Lumpectomy and Mastectomy (Double then reconstruction) So I am interrested in hearing about your experience... Did you have a choice of surgery or was Mastectomy your only option? And if you had a choice, what made you decide?
