Beautiful Boy - John Lennon   (I peeked)

Well the sun is slowly sinking down
    The moon is surely rising
This old world must still be spinning 'round
    And I still love you

Close Your Eyes - James Taylor (Linda Ronstadt did a great version, too)

    We are stardust
    We are golden
    We are billion-year-old carbon
And we've got to get ourselves
    Back to the garden

Woodstock by crosby, stills and nash

People came from miles around everyone was there
Yoko brought her walrus there was magic in the air
And over in the corner much to my surprise
Mr. Hughes hid in Dylan's shoes wearing his disguise

    Garden Party - Rick Nelson

And if I say to you tomorrow
Take my hand child come with me.
It's to a castle I will take you
Where what's to be they say will be.

What Is And What Should Never Be -- Led Zepplin

You ride on the swing in and out of the bars
Capturing moments of life in a jar
Playing with children, acting as stars

Heaven is in your Mind by Steve Winwood

A huge hit from the 80's I think:

You don't really want anymore from me
    To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you think love is to pray
But I'm sorry I don't pray that way

    Tainted Love - Soft Cell

I put her out in a town that was so small
You could throw a rock from end to end
A dirt road main street, she walked off in her barefeet
And it's a shame I won't be passin' through again

Lke a picture she was laying there
And moonlight dancing off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
We made love in my Chevy van
And that's all right with me

Remember that one?  Chevy Van by Sammy Kershaw

    I have run
    I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
    These city walls
    Only to be with you

    I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For...U2

    I need to laugh

And when the sun is out

I've got something I can laugh about

Best Version:  Robert Gordon  (back off, I saw him first)

Orig. Version:  Billy Lee Riley  (the 50's)

    More Recent Version:  Stray Cats

    O.K., here is another..........

    Breakdown on the shoreline,
    can't move, it's an ebbtide.
Morning don't get here till night,
    searching for her silver light.

Last Night I Couldn't Get To Sleep At All. The fifth dimension

    From the 70's

I know the feeling we're trying to forget

    If only for awhile

Cause I'll be lonely without you

And I'll need your love to see me through

and that's Smooth Operator by Sade'

This one may be a tad obscure but I heard it on the radio just last week!

You're just hangin out in a local bar,
And you're wonderin who the hell you are.
Are you a bum or are you a star?

I don't know the answer so it's still up for guessing, but I just wanted to tell you I went to a really great program this afternoon with the Cincinnati Pops orchestra and a singing group called New York Voices.....the program was called Sweet Sounds of the 70's and they did some great ones....Overture from Tommy, several medlies, Carol King, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, ....Joni Mitchell,  a few Paul Simon and the best one, Bohemian Rhapsody....plus they had to throw in a little disco.  I wasn't really wild about going, but am so glad I did.

I will check back later to see what the song was and if any new lyrics are posted.

I love the '70's!  The song above is Keep On Smilin' by Wet Willie

Ooh ooh you might not ever get rich
But let me tell ya it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief

I knew the Sade one, but stupid laptop froze and wouldn't let me post!

That one's Car Wash by Rose Royce.

You had a temper like my jealousy - too hard, too greedy.

How could I leave you, when I wanted to, possess you, I hated you,,, I loved you too,

     Bad dreams in the night,

They told me I was going to lose the fight.....

Haven't listened to that one in a long time...

    Wuthering Heights  -- Kate Bush

There's a lady setting flowers on a table covered lace
And a cleaner in the distance finds a cobweb on a face
And a feeling deep inside of me tells me
    This can't be the place

That was "Cathedral" by CS&N.  Here's another one.

Seems I've got to have a change of scene
'Cause every night I have the strangest dreams
Imprisoned by the way it could have been
Left here on my own or so it seems
I've got to leave before I start to scream...

I can hear it --- Feelin' Alright by Joe Cocker

Doesn't take much to make me happy
And make me smile with glee
Never never will I feel discouraged
    Cause our love's no mystery

Best of My Love - The Emotions

Smuggling guns and arms across the Spanish border
The wind whips up the waves so loud
The ghost moon sails among the clouds
Turns the rifles into silver __ ___ ______

On the Border - Al Stewart

I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
    And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around

I Got You Babe....Sonny and Cher

Don't you know that I'd sacrifice anything

For the sake of having you near

In spite of the warning voice that comes in the night

That repeats repeats in my ear

I've Got You Under My Skin - Frank Sinatra, written by Cole Porter, dedicated to my porta-cath ;)

There are children raised in sorrow
on a scorched and barren plain
there are children raised beneath the golden sun
There are children of the water,
    children of the sand
and they cry out through the universe
    their voices raised as one

    ____________, I want to grow
I want to see, I want to know
I want to share what I can give
    I want to be, _____________

I Want to Live - John Denver

    I have these moments
    All steady and strong
I'm feeling so holy and humble
    The next thing I know
    I'm all worried and weak
And I feel myself starting to crumble

    The meanings get lost
    And the teachings get tossed
    And you don't know what
    You're going to do next
    You wait for the sun
    But it never quite comes
    Some kind of message
    Comes through to you
Some kind of message comes through

And it says to you. . .

    Love when you can
    Cry when you have to
    Be who you must
    That's a ____ __ ___ ____
    Await your arrival
    With simple survival
And one day we'll all understand
