Radiation and the holidays

Well.... I was suppose to have chemo until right before Thanksgiving, so my radiation would have started after the New Year.  Now, it looks like I will start radiation soon....

RO 1 wants me to get mapped next week and then start the week after - Thanksgiving week.  I would only get 3 of the 5 in the first week.  Then, the office would be closed 12/26 and 1/2, so I would have 4 out of 5 days in those weeks.

RO2 - at another hospital wants to get me mapped in the next two weeks and then start the week after Thanksgiving.  They are not sure when they would be closed around Christmas and New Years, but he mentioned that they had opened the office on the weekend to get people 4 out of 5 days during those weeks.

Any thoughts about what this means to treatment? If anyone else is starting or will be in Radiation during the holidays- what are they doing for you?

    They usually try to get at least 4 in each week, obviously a challenge over the holiday season.  I don't see a good reason to start on Thanksgiving week and have only 3 treatments.  It would be different if you were midway through treatment. You might as well wait until the week after Thanksgiving.  With Christmas and New Year's Day on Sundays, it should be easy to get 4 treatments in those weeks.  Almost everyone having 5-7 weeks of treatment will hit one or two holidays.

    Thank you Red sox, if I go with RO1, i will ask about postponeing until after T'giving.

    Are you by chance from Massachusetts?  I am from that neck of the woods orginally.....

    I'll be done before Christmas, but I only get off Thanksgiving day. I'll have a treatment on the Friday following Thanksgiving.

    I am also originally from Massachusetts but not living there now.  When I first registered here and needed a screen name, I happened to be watching a Red Sox game on TV.
