Hi Renee, had my re-do...all's well....Today's scan was done by the person that was training the girl I had the other day...At first she was a little put-offish that I was back, but when I explained to her that I was told by the trainee that her supervisor would be in to check and esp, my left side, she became very apologetic and went overboard to even show me on the scanner that all was well....The Radiologist was also there that always talks to me afterward and when I mentioned to him that I had asked for my appt to be made when he was there and I was told that I could not choose my radiologist at my scans, he said I certainly could and if I had any problems to call him personally...I said "you know I will"...So I am satisfied, we just shouldn't have to fight for dignified quality service....

Hope you hear back from your new job app if you think it is somthing you want...I know before it sounded as though they were taking advantage of you...Good luck...Jewly

Jewly... happy dance for you for clean scans and getting things done right!!!  If we don't stand up for us no one will.  Sad part is that it doesn't work in the work force... stand up and be heard and lose a job most of the time!! Undecided

Talked to my friend the other day about the job and she had another interview (my job kinda hinges on hers) and she said she thought it might be the first of November.  Not the best news in the world.  Patience is a virtue.  I wonder what will happen if I sit and wait and come Nov. no job, but on the other hand if I go out and look, find something I really don't want, take it and then this job opens up Nov. 1, where will I be... somewhere I don't want to be?  So right now I guess I will wait.  God says to be patient and wait on him.  Things come in his time not ours.  Sometimes it awfully hard waiting.  I am one of the worst... I want it done yesterday and I can tell you, these people who think sitting at home is fun are not having fun.  They just want us to think they are.  When you are struggling to get by and have little to no money and stuck in the house and can't go anywhere that is no fun at all.  It gives a whole new meaning to what elderly people that have health problems and can't drive who depend on others go through... and I have a car.  It's the most horrible thing in the world.

I love working, matter of fact though I complain on occassion, I would say I am a workaholic and not having a job is driving me nutso.  I can't do anything in my house because I haven't any money to redecorate with, my daughters just moved back in and her stuff is strewn about in boxes and yet to be put away!  Oh yeah cooped up all day with a 2 yr old that I love dearly that only wants to watch Spongebob! LOL!!! that about covers it.  Lord please pray for my sanity and that job soon Smile

    Hugs

    Renee

Renee, Wow, you have a lot going on, hope that job pulls through for you...IF you are going to wait for the Nov job, there are usually lots of volunteer positions that keep you very busy....I use to volunteer at a thrift store (we gave money to out local schools) it was fun, very very busy and I would also have a chance to find some wonderful items (clothes, shoe, purses, you name it!) (even Coach, Brahmin) and we all got a certain amount per hour to spend on these items, no cash but it was better since we sold such quality items....

In this day and time it is hard to have a voice and hold on to a good job, luckily my husband was able to keep his job from the huge Space Center lay-offs, but we had to take it in Jupiter, now we pay mortgage here and rent down there, it is stretching us and I really had to cut back...We are home in Merritt Isl Fri-Sun Eve and met up with about 6 of his co-workers, including his boss from the Space Center and they are all looking for jobs and are flying all over the country for interviews but having no luck!!...These are all 6 figure professonal engineers and none of them have found anything in the last 2 months of looking...My husband's wonderful ex-boss (one of the now unemployed) said that one of his neighbors actually asked him if she could hire him to tutor her child, we are talking about a man with unbelievable education, I think the reality of his situation hit him right in the face when she asked that!!....We are glad we accepted the relocation but it is weird living in 2 places every week....But after the get together yesterday, I am counting my blessings!!!

Think about the volunteering, it gets you out, even for a few hours a day.....Keep us posted, Jewly

I live in a very small town that is much like Mayberry you see on Andy Griffith.  We have been a "dry" county until this past March and they still are carding everyone even elderly people that it is very apparent that are over 21 because that is part of the law they have enacted.  Our town has not sold alcohol in over 60+ yrs.  Most thought it would never sell again because there was a time when many people that lived here were like the character of Otis on Andy Griffith.  There really isn't much to volunteer for here we are so small.  We have a red cross, but someone has to take care of my granddaughter right now.  What with my daughter going through a divorce she certainly can't afford a sitter.  I am really hoping once I go back to work I can pay for her to go to daycare.  It would be so beneficial for her.  She is very head strong, doesn't share well at times and doesn't mind the best but she hasn't been under my discipline totally.  It's very hard to undo what someone else has let go.  It will take a while.  I am trying but she does try my patience at times.  LOL!  still love her though with all my heart and I try to remember it's not her fault she hasn't been made mind.

I saw the Rads doctor today. All is fine! The nurses still recognize me. I have forgotten most of them.  I guess theat's good. It means I have gotten on with my life and putting the past behind me. I'm still high risk for the next three years. I have to continue seeing the doctors there every 3 months.

My youngest son came with me. He's 18 now. The nurse said that he could come with me to see the doctor. I said no. I don't think he want to be there as I was getting a breast exam. He's a good kid. He gives me lots of support but I think he (me too) draws the line at seeing me half naked. We did lunch and did some shopping afterwards.

    Hugs!

Some good news I had a job interview today and I hope they call me back with an offer in a few days.  She said they had a few more to interview.  I am praying very hard that the job will come through.  I so need a job badly.  Much love to all of you.  Bonnie, Jewly and to you Valerie.  all the others have long gone on with their lives or onto other boards but I would love to know that they are still o.k. and in the living realm.

O.k. I will follow up when I hear from my job... hopefully an offer.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my "bosom buddies".....Hope you get the job that you mentioned Renee...We've been on this site for about 2 years now, I keep coming back to check and glad to see for the most part all is going well....I am going to see a female breast surgeon in Stuart in January to get a second opinion on the ongoing soreness to my left side, I was told she does her own ultra-sounds and I have a list of questions, hopefully she will give me some answers that make sense..Valerie, that's funny that they almost let your son come in the examine room, I can relate, I have a 21 year old son he would be the most embarressed kid in the world...Made me laugh..Take care all, Jewly

Jewly I still have some soreness and tenderness in my right breast in the bottom where my biopsy was done.  I don't really notice it untill it is mashed or squeezed, like when the doctors are checking me, etc.  I really think it just has to do from so much scar tissue.  But I wish you luck my friend and hope you get the answers you need.

Hi Renee, Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes! I was traveling in NY/CT; visiting family and had a nice time. Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.

I like your profile photo! Now I know what you look like! Good luck with your job hunt and your continued good health.

Jewly & Veggy, Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, and hope you had a great time with your friends and families.

Good luck, Jewly on the second opinion in January. Soreness for such a long time can't be right.

I have been doing a home exercise program called Power 90 for three months. It's terrific! I'm really feeling good and strong. Yesterday did a huge chest stretch and felt my chest muscles on the right PULL. Move that scar tissue!! Go Go! GO!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Bonnie, Veggy and Jewly!! May your 2012 be filled with laughter, love and new friendships, less visits to the doctors and health, wealth and the beauty and longevity of life and more time with family and friends.

I love you all for having made the journey of the last 2 years a more bearable one.  I couldn't have done any of this without each of you.  Maybe someday we shall all meet.

Hope all are having great Holidays and wishing all a very Happy New Year....So far so good around here, but the weather has been anything but Christmasy, in the 80's..May get some rain today..Usually by now, my canal is full of diving pelicans, they come here when it gets cold, but not even one yet!..

Next week, I will see a female B-surgeon for second opinion on going soreness and just some general questions...Even on arimidex, I have never had night sweats or much to do with lower estrogen and I have heard the worse your meno symptoms are the better the als are working...

Can't believe it's been over 2 years on this site, hope you all hang on here..I agree with Renee, couldn't have done it without you all....Good idea of a meet someday.....The best to all, Jewly

Hi Bonnie, Hi All...Well I love this female breast surgeon that I saw this morning...Don't faint or anything but she does her own ultra sounds and explains findings to you as she is doing it..I had a list of questions and she took the time and answered them all...She explained to me that the soreness that I still have is most likely due to some breast lymphedema, she showed me the tissue on the ultra sound and said she could see some swelling of some fluid that was retained there...She wrote me a prescription to see someone to teach me a massage method that may help reduce the fluid that is still there....I just can't say enough about her...I will definately go back to her with any other questions or concerns that I may have in the future....

Hope all have a great New Year...Been a couple of years, can you believe it....Keep updating all, I am always wondering how everyone is....Keep up the good work...Jewly

Glad to hear everyone had a wonderful new year.  I spent it alone with an elder lady I sit with sometimes since I don't currently have a job.  I would have liked to be with my hubs but it didn't work out that way and he was alone as well. I also was alseep at midnight so no big deal to me.  I keep hoping I will get a job in this new year.  I really need to get on a diet.  Speaking of Arimidex and night sweats.... I never had those even when I was going through menopause from having my hysterectomy.  But since I got really sick in Nov. I've started having them.  My hairline will become drenched and will get a sweaty throat and back of my neck and between my breasts and upper back and that's the only place.  I don't do it every night.  That's what is so weird.  I am going to ask the Rad Onc about it.  It's had me a little concerned

    Hi Jewly, Renee, and Valerie,

Thinking about you all and wanted to check in. Just passed my 2nd anniversary of finishing radiation, and my 1st anniversary of spine surgery. Have to say, I'm feeling great and what a relief! The only lingering effect from all that is I have continued to have insomnia ever since the BC diagnosis. I'll take insomnia over BC any day!

Jewly, I'm so glad you had a good experience with the female breast surgeon. Have you had any relief with the massage? I recall that you suspected that a staple was left behind. Are you satisfied that that's not the case? It's so much better to have an attentive, thorough, interested doctor. I have a little bit of leftover swelling which is actually good because it makes my look even from right to left.

Renee, hope you get a job soon! Do you have any leads? That must be a drag. And you're getting night sweats. What fun. Good luck and maybe they will ease up. Do certain foods trigger them to you think?

Valerie, hope you are well and getting through your frequent checkups. That must be unnerving.

Hope you are all getting 2012 off to a good start. Time flies so fast!

    Bonnie

Hi All...I always wondered if I would ever get to the point of not coming on this cite checking, reading everything that I could consume about this horrible disease...I depended on this cite and especially this Rad group for so much support, thank you all...I hope all of you are doing great...

I decided not to do the massage therapy after my Onco doc said it would always come back, not a permanent cure..I still try to eat better, organics, lots of green stuff...I make a mix of Bolthouse's "Green Goodness" and blend in with that as my base, pineapple (estrogen inhibitor), banana, brocolli, arugula, kiwi, etc.....drink every morn....I find it easier to gulp it down once a day rather than try to eat all of this good stuff in one day...I also am walking 5 miles twice a week on the beach..

Bonnie, so glad you are feeling great again, with that spine surgery and all...How's the insomnia?

Renee, you know I have never had night sweats or any menopausal symptoms to speak of, I was very concerned because I have read that the harsher the symptoms, the more the arimidex is working.....My sister and my mom have always had major symptoms... Have you found a job yet?..Hope so...

Hope you all update now and again, don't know what I would have done without you, Jewly

Hi Bonnie and Hi Jewly, I'm doing great with the exception that I still have no job.  I've had several job interviews but haven't been hired.  I keep looking but jobs are very few and far between here where I live.  I can't afford to drive over 50 miles to work it wouldn't pay me to and my car has over 112,000 miles on it.  Life is very hard right now.

As for the night sweats they have pretty much gone away since the doctor started me on Effexor and I take it at night.  He told me it would cause the symptoms to go away and it has.  Believe me I am so thankful because I was getting no sleep.  I had a total hysterectomy 10 yrs ago and all my menopausal symptoms had completely gone away so when I started having night sweats I was like... really!! LOL!!

Bonnie I'm glad you are feeling well after your surgery.  Hope your insomnia is better.

Jewly I'm glad that you don't feel the need to come here all the time.  I do come here just for the socialization.  I have made some very close friends and we love to talk and carry on.  :)  It's wonderful.  I also enjoy helping others that are going through what I have experienced.  Everyone is different in what they need.  Right now I don't have work and this site is my saving grace.

    Love to you both.

My breast (same one as before) has been painful and burning. The oncologist failed to fidn anything an when I emailed the surgeon she said what I was feeling was common. I persitted with the BS and she finally saw me. She felt two lumps. I've had a mammo, ultra sound and a biopsy. Now I am waiting for the results. The waiting is the hardest part.

Oh Valerie I am so sorry you are having to go through this krap again! It sucks royally. I will be praying for you that the results will be B9 honey.  If you want to call and talk to me message me here an I will inbox you my phone number. Sometimes it just helps to have someone to talk to.  Did they tell you when you might have the results of the biopsy back?

The results might be in on Friday. They took 5 samples from each lump. I guess they want to make sure. I wish I could motivate myself to do something. If I do something then the breast starts to hurt. I may take you up on that offer. Thanks

Oh no Valerie! I'm sorry that this is happening again. Good for you for sticking to your guns with the doctors. I hope that the lumps are nothing. Fingers crossed. If it helps any, I have very lumpy breasts, and that's just the way they are. Nothing wrong. Just a bit nerve wracking during exams.

Try to be calm while you wait for your results. Rest, be nice to yourself.

Do you know the 4 - 7 - 8 breathing technique? It really helps me when I'm panicky or stressed. You breathe in for four counts, then hold your breath for 7 counts, and then breathe out for 8 counts. You do this 4 times. By the end of it, you will be calmer, I guarantee it.

    GOOD LUCK

Yes Bonnie it is... I sent in 2 resumes last week and one this week.  I just received a letter from one telling me they had already filled the job but would keep my resume on file for later and a friend told me the one I applied for this week had already been filled... not sure if it has or not, but from what I was told about the job it doesn't sound at all like something I'd want.  A friend of hers had actually interviewed for the same job and they aren't going to pay very much and want you to be on call 24/7 (it's for an occupational nurse).  I've done been down that road... I don't want to do that for 15.00/hr and have to get up and go into a plant to look at someones boo boo to decide if I need to fix it or send them to the ER. Now if it paid more? maybe? but it would have to be a lot more.  LOL!!! But yeah the job hunt is hard pickings.  I'm going to try and go tomorrow at another place if we aren't unde tornadoes.and severe thunderstorms.  If we are it will be Friday.  My brother is trying to help me get on at this place.  Gotta have a job. Lord please keep praying for me everyone :)
