My First Ambien

You know, I do remember that about Tiger Woods. I don't know if they were Chaka's pants, but she just told me that she never did find the undies, but her original pants were in her carry-on luggage. She stopped taking this and one of her migraine meds when Tawny Kitean was arrested for beating up her husband. She was taking ambien, and this migraine med. Does not sound like a good combination!
-
During chemo and presurgical stress my onc recommended I take an ambien with one xanax. My husband thought for sure I would end up like Micheal Jackson. I must admit, this combo worked great for me. I have a scan on friday, I have a xanax saved to take with my ambien on thursday night.
-
BTW, I am not a drug addict, still have almost all my vicodin, etc. Sleep is my addiction, and I am worthless and grumpy if I don't get my 8 hours.
-
I get 90 at a time of the 6.25 cr's. Medco gives me the generic which isn't as good as the real mccoy's, but I make do with one of them and some Benadryl. When I begin to run dry and my PCP starts making noise like nine years is too long to take them, I contemplate what drug store arond town would be easiest to break in to. Sound like addiction? I wouldn't stop at armed robbery either, tho most of the time when I think about knocking over Walgreen's it is around midnight and they are closed.
I don't know when a story here has fascinated me quite as much as Aprilgirl's sister. Would she consider joining so she could give us a first hand account of this remarkable Ambien adventure.? Better than leaping off a cruise ship...
-
Christine - oh we get it. I have never been into drugs, but insomnia is awful! I am so thankful that we can live a little better, or at least sleep better with the help of chemistry.
-
Christine...I think we all "get it" here. I have an entire pharmacy here, including a bunch of narcotics left over from my mastectomy in August...but it *is* nice to get that floaty feeling every once in a while - legally, I might add, is it not?
AprilGirl, I am *dying* CHAKA KHAN with too much perfume???? Seriously?!?! That is so fricking awesome. I can't wait til Weesa sees this, she is probably already hanging out with the walrus tonight...
-
weesa, I am in NC too, just call me when you are ready for the big Walgreens heist. We can be the pink bandits, with NO underware!
-
Oh...it took me long enough to post to see that Weesa has already chimed in. I am now listening to Chaka Khan. I, too, think that Aprilgirl's sister should become an honorary member of BCO...I find this equally fascinating, and even though the cruise jumping and disappearing forever thing is a little more my style, I don't think we'll be able to get one of those folks for a "live" interview...
-
Christine and Weesa, NC is a bit of a drive for us, but Ambien Walrus told me he's willing to help me drive the getaway car...
-
Oh my goodness, you guys are so funny! I am in Seattle, but will join you and the walrus in the heist. I may persuade my sister to join bc.org, but she is out for the night, so it will have to be tomorrow.
-
My sister often flies cross country. She only takes a sleeping pill if she is flying with her husband...now I know why!!!
The generic has the same ingredients as the prescription; but you get the full dose at once with the generic, whereas the prescription is time released.
-
Too true Ruth!
I take Xanax (pl. = Xanaces?) when I fly, and it also makes me sleepy, especially if I also enjoy a cocktail on the flight. Once, I was seated next to a business man wearing a very nice suit, and when I woke up, I had my head on his shoulder and I had drooled all over his suit. I was horrified. I asked why he hadn't woken me up, and he said, "You just looked so comfortable..." For the record, my underwear *was* still in place.
-
If necessary, I could join Aprilgirl in Seattle for a local heist, then we could each take some Ambien, hop a flight and deliver the goods to our needy friends across the country or I can take northern deliveries and she could take Southern just as long as everyone gets what they need..
-
Raincitygirl, when you say "take some Ambien, hop a flight...", if you are actually going to *take* some Ambien rather than just taking it *with* you, you need to make sure Chaka Khan is not on board. Keep your pants on, and all that.
-
I LOVE Ambien and I don't care if I am addicted to it or not. Finally after 20 years of having major insomnia I had to get cancer in order to get Ambien prescribed. I can sleep finally!
Never had a bad experience with it - no weird dreams - no waking up without my underwear
-
Mmmm.
But sometimes I do forget to sleep. That's a drag the next day.
Once posted something here I found later and had no memory of it whatsoever.
-
I too have to chime in because I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ambien. I have never had an off experience either, but wake up and don't feel exhausted. I've not had odd dreams , sleep walking or sleep eating. Though believe me, I'd like to blame the ambien for my weight gain.
-
I meant it figuratively and literally
I also hate perfume, so hope she is not on board. I will just wear a skirt so as not to worry about my pants. Course then I'd have to break down and buy a skirt....
I am waiting for my DIL to give birth and she has had on and off labor for a few days now so I CAN'T take any Ambien. I am not needed for the birth, I have to go get their dog at the time of departure for the hospital....then I can take one if needed.
-
Looked to see if there was anything earlier on this thread, assumed you were all sleeping.
raincitygirl, congrats on the soon to be arriving grandbaby! Hope its not long so you can get some sleep.
-
Thanks Christine
-
Oh no Christine, haven't taken my Ambien yet, long day of work today and just enjoying relaxing before popping the pill. Honestly, I had my first productive work day in at least a week, and I know I owe it all to Ambien - being able to sleep makes a HUGE difference in my energy level, surprise, surprise.
Raincitycirl, congrats on impending Grandbaby! Now...what happens if you have to bring the dog along on the Ambien-fueled airplane heist? Will he be your co-pilot? Do dogs get along with walruses? Enquiring minds want to know!
-
I fell out of bed, hit my head on the nightstand, got a black eye and remembered none of it...
-
Cowgirl - he's such a great dog, he gets along with everybody, so I have to assume a walrus would be just fine. Just checked with my son, status quo - still at home, occasional contractions that build to some regularity and then stop. DH and I are discussing if at least one of us could take something tonight
SoCalLisa - better that you don't remember
-
Has anybody here gotten off Ambien? How did you do it? Anybody here think Ambien is giving them stomach problems?
Think I am also addicted to this thread and hearing about Walrus.
-
Just for you, Weesa:
-
Oh, and yes, I know someone who got off Ambien after witnessing (aka hallucinating) a dog coming out of a wall. That was apparently a wake-up call, pun intended. We called him "Ambien Dogwalls" for a while. But other than him, nope. Oh wait...April's sister. Perhaps you need to experience some Ambien related trauma to quit.
In other news, Chaka Khan has been going through my head all day.
-
Ambien comes in regular 10- or 5- mg pills; it also comes in controlled release 12.5- or 6.25- mg pills. Generic has the same options. I now take the 6.25 mg generic Ambien, and it usually works like a charm!
-
I've been following this thread...love the humor, but I need some more first-hand experience about Ambien. I don't have trouble going to sleep. I hit the pillow and I'm usually out within 10-30 minutes (depending on how my mind is going that day). But I wake up several times during the night, first one usually 1-1/2 to 2 hours after going to sleep. And then at least once (usually 2-3) more before I have to get up. Does the Ambien produce solid, uninterrupted sleep if that is the original problem, or just helps you fll asleep?
-
Ahhhhhhh Love my Ambien.Generally take half a tablet and I'm asleep in 30 minutes. No hangover in the am.That stuff is so good that one morning I woke up feeling really refreshed and thought "wow this stuff is great". Then I found the tiny white pill still on my bedside table. It's so good that you just have to put it near your bed for it to work!! Seriously, when I need a good night's sleep this is my drug of choice.
-
NancyD, I'm no doctor, but based on saf1017's description, you'd want the controlled release pills to *stay* asleep, whereas I use the instant sleep ones.
