chest pain getting worse

I was just diagnosed w/ cancer in my lower left sternam and muli-nodes in my lungs. The pain was always to the left side of my chest but now it seems to be spreading to the right side. I am going to call my ong tommorrow . Why would the other side start hurting? Could it spread that fast? My bone scan and ct was only done 9 days ago.

    I wish I could answer your question but I have no experience with sternum or lung mets. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you have to be here with us. Why don't you copy your question and ask it on the Stage IV Forum? You'll find lots of support and help over there. Maybe there are some gals still up. Sometimes we get so involved over there that we forget to check this forum to see if we can help. I think you're very wise to call your onc tomorrow and see what he/she has to say about this. I bet he has an explanation rather than that it has spread in only 9 days.

    I am praying for you and wish your doctor skill, patience, and curiosity as s/he treats you.  Apart from anything designed to treat the cancer itself, perhaps you could ask for an anti-anxiety medication, like oxazepam, just to take the sharpest edge off.  It might help you think more clearly and listen more thoroughly.  It also helps me fall asleep.  Just a thought.
