I am new to this site. I was diognosed with hypothyroidism a few months before my bc diognosis and since the chemotherapy I have been struck with much pain. My skin feels like it hurts and my bones ache and I feel so tired all the time. I have read that many of you here in this site have fybromyalgia along with bc. Is it common to bc patients to have hypothyroidism and fybromyalgia before or after chemo? Do the three diseases seem to be connected to one another? I am wondering about my pain since chemo. My doctors don't seem to be concerned about my pain and uncomfortableness. I am in menopause and the heat flashes are horrible also. Any responses are welcomed.

Aw, sweetie, I hear you!! I've had Fibromyalgia for about 16 years now and am on very, very heavy narcotics so I can function (even though 'studies' say that narcotics don't work for FM!). I worked full time until about 4 months ago and finally gave up and am hopefully going on LTD. I find the FM affects my life a LOT more than the cancer. The 3 issues you mention are questioned on another thread here on bco. Search for Fibromyalgia and you will find an active thread that is very interesting. I'll look forward to seeing you there.

I have had hypothyroidism for years before my bc diagnosis.  Now that my treatment is over, I'm finding I have a lot of aches and pains in my body.  I was told it was probably from fybromyalgia but not from a doctor.  None of my doctors have even mentioned that as a possibility.  Pretty frustrating.  It's like they want to mask your symptoms with more medication.  I hate taking medicine.  Not sure what else will help.
