Would you be concerned

I had DCIS in 2009.  I had 2 lumpectomies and then mammosite radiation.  For the past 3 days the lumpectomy area has been sore and even under my arm.  The lumpectomy site is on the outer upper quadrant.

I'm just trying to figure out what could be causing it.  I'm 2 1/2 years past the radiation.  Just when you start getting comfortable with moving beyond a cancer diagnosis something brings it right back.

    Dietcoke,

I had my lumpectomy in 2003 and I still have pain and discomfort in the area.  I saw a new bs over the summer to ask her about it and she immediately said, "it's from the radiation."  Problem is, I never had radiation.  However, my point is radiaion can cause pain many months or years later.   I know I was searching on this site this summer about others who have had pain and found that it is quite common after radiation.  There was one post with many replies of others who have had similar problems, not sure which of the many forums it was in though.  Maybe if you do a search with something like pain after radiation you will find others in the same boat.

Though you are probably concerned because the soreness is new.  I don't have a lot of wisdom in this area so really can't say much else.  I don't know how old you are or if you are still getting your periods but if you are could it be related to that?

It's easy to jump to the worst case scenario, I'm great for doing that.  Give if a few days and if it doesn't feel better check with the doctor for some reassurance.
