1 year on PARP and still NED!!
Hi girls,
Had my PET scan today and still all clear!!! Yeah!!! If you guys remember, I was diagnosed stage IV from go in March 2010 at the age of 31. Had 2 positive lymph nodes, 2 LARGE lesions on my liver and suspicious spots on my left lung. Taxol/Avastin got me to NED in three months and then I had a recurrence (right breast only, nothing metastatic ever showed up after my very first PET) late last year (Dec. 2010) I have been on PARP with Gem/Carbo ever since. Had a BMX on June 1, 2011 and my pathology was clear. This was my 2nd PET since then and I'm still good. All I can say is NOTHING is impossible. Just wanted to share my happy Friday.
Love and prayers
Nicole

Nicole: Your experience is an inspiration - wishing you many more years NED.

How have your counts held up and are you still doing carbo/gemzar with inipirib? I have been on it almost a year as well (Nov. 15th) and my PET/CT in Sept showed NED....will have another scan at the end of the month and hoping it still shows NED but we shall see! I had to dose reduce gem/carbo just 2 weeks ago because platelets couldn't rebound at all
but it was only about a 20% reduction so I am ok with that....platelets are still having a tough time even with the dose reduction.....this is my week off. Are you doing the days 1, 4, 8 and 11 protocol?

Hey Nicole great news. Can you tell me who your oncologist was and where I can find him / her - I am stage 4 mets lung and liver and my oncologist says I've only months left and that he can only give me capecitabine. I feel fantastic with basically no symptoms - just a CT scan to show the mets - I was'nt even given your drug regimen - I wonder if I was would I maybe not have progressed to stage 4. Would love to get in contact with your oncologist to see if they would recommend the same regimen for me. Also, which PARP trial are you on - there are so many out there? Thanks in advance for you help and thanks for sharing your great story of HOPE for us all. Love and Blessings xxoo

Hi Ladies - I just wanted to update you and share some good news - I've just completed 2 cycles of my chemo now and we've got great shrinkage of all my tumours. Can't believe it! So we're keeping going while we continue to try and find me a PARP to add to the mix. So thankful for good results. Just wanted to share my good news and my growing belief that we really can fight this brute! Love to you all. MJ
