Oklahoma girls (or guys) out there?

Day, I will let you know when the surgery is scheduled as I may in fact need the moral support.  It is another one of my up in the air matters but I am hoping to have my brother and sister-in-law visit towards the end of the month.  My sister-in-law is the one who came to be with me for the original BL MX - I have absolutely no idea what I would have done or how I would have managed without her.

I do hope to go to An Affair Of The Heart though that too has to be a wait and see until the last minute.  Any chance either one of you will be going?

Well, ladies, I will be again at the OPERA fair on the 12-13 of November. I am planning to go in the park again this coming Sunday, if the temperatures are above the 50's lol.

My backyard is almost done. Still need to work on the front, and start re-finishing the kitchen cabinets.

How did your trick-or-treating go?

I had my usual around 50 kids.  Her Yorkinesses had matching cheerleader tutus and were the official Trick-O-Treater Greeters.

My surgery to remove The Mutants is over and I am improving every day.  YEAH!!!!!

I was a little nervous when it woke me up & DH comes running in from the restroom yelling, "What's going on?"  I say, Earthquake.  Even the dog was scared.  It shook for quite some time at least a minute but it seemed a lot longer. It shook us enough that things were rattling.  People at church said they had some minor damage to there house.  Now that is scary! I sure hope we don't make it three nights in a row. NJ 

I was in Anchorage, Alaska for the 1964 Earthquake which was over a 9 and the largest recorded earthquake on the North American continent.  I don't know that I am terrified but certainly respectful.  However hope no one is in the way going down the stairs in a tall building because I will be coming down like a run away train. lol

MrNJBand:  These are big surgeries.  You were my poster child for when it all goes right.  It pains me to hear that it was not to be and that you have had so many difficulties with your recovery.  Somehow it all just doesn't seem so "minor" to me.  I pray your December surgery goes far better and uneventfully.

I had my center dog ears removed on Oct. 27th.  I will be in compression wrap with silicone pad for a minimum of 6 weeks.  I have read elsewhere that it could easily be 2 to 3 months.  In any case, the incisions are looking very good so far.  I am praying for no drama in my recovery.

Hello everyone,  I live in Stillwater but travel to Oklahoma City to see my oncologist and ps.  I acquired my oncologist by default as he was my husband's oncologist and we thought it would be easier to go to the same one.  We both liked him very much and thought he was an excellent Dr but things have changed.  Instead of being an independent he has now been bought out by a large OKC hospital and it's just not the same.  The inefficiency of a big corporate hospital running his office has made for some very trying situations.  Personnel turnover and training have contributed to a litany of mistakes for both my husband and myself.  Does anyone know of a great medical oncologist in the OKC area.  My husband has brain cancer and I have breast cancer.   It is easier to go to the same Dr. but will split if necessary.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I absolutely love Dr. Geister and he is truly the exact right fit for me.  He was on the list of recommended MO's given to me by my BS who has not steered me wrong yet.  I have a friend (not bc) who also goes to him, loves him, and recommended him to me.  My other bc survivor friend says he would not be a fit for her.  We are all such different personalities that no one can be a match for everyone.

I will share my list of various recommendations from Drs. and friends.  Keep in mind that I chose Dr. Geister from the beginning and so have no personal experience whatsoever with any of these other people.  They could be good or horrid.

Hi fellow Okies! I just found this thread and glad to know it's here. I live in Claremore and have received care in Tulsa. I finished rads last wendsday and see MO this week about tamoxifen. It's been a very bumpy road this year and sure good to not feel alone!

I can recommend someone, an Indian (as in Hindu from India) doctor, who also practices ayurvedic medicine and more. His name is Dr. Gumman and one of my friends is his assistant (she's a Cherokee Indian and also is certified in ayurvedic medicine).

 Just be aware of the fact that Oklahoma does not have in plae a legal mechanism for certifying acupuncturists. If your health insurance normally covers acupuncture, you need to talk to them first and make them check if that dr. is on their list, because even if there is no licensing/certification for acupuncturists in Oklahoma, as long as he Dr. is an MD, etc and can give diagnostics, they will cover. I know I ran into this thing when I had BCBS.

I went last evening to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. Quite an experience.I loved it.
