You're right, I looked it up. Ewww, so a guy is singing this? I remember Meatloaf from the 80's as being sweaty and, well, a bit rotund. His throat being sexily chomped by a hungry wolfman is not an appealing image! *laugh*

    Who can take the sunrise,
    Sprinkle it with dew?
    Cover it with chocolate
    And a miracle or two...

well there's a contrast LOL!  The Candy Man - Sammy Davis Jr.

windlass, the lyrics above are a 'conversation' between a man and a woman.  and luv2trav you are right, it's Meatloaf.

You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by.
    And so become yourself
Because the past is just a good bye.

Teach Your Children ~ Crosby, Stills and Nash (and maybe Young?)

hahaha When I read those words I thought....Gross!  That's gotta be Meatloaf!

Other arms reach out to me

    Other eyes smile tenderly

Still in peaceful dreams I see

The road leads back to you

Georgia on my Mind - Ray Charles

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time

It's Sam Stone by John Pryne (Prine?)....one of Tim's favorites.

Here's another    Go away from my window, Leave at your own chosen speed.  I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need

It Ain't Me Babe Bob Dylan

    I sing the song
    because I love the man
    I know that some
    of you don't understand
    Milk-blood
    to keep from running out.

clever Kay!  The Needle and the Damage Done - Neil Young

    Sail on Silver Girl,
    Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way.

Thanks!  One of my favorites, Bridge Over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkle

And girl, I don't really blame you
For having a dream of your own
Hey girl, I don't really blame you
A woman like you needs a house and a home, baby

The Worst That Can Happen - 5th Dimension

(followed by Wedding Bell Blues - 5th Dimension's Greatest Hits was the first LP I ever bought!)

Take these broken wings and learn to fly
    All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black Bird by the Beatles can never go wrong with a Beatles tune!

I suppose I could collect my books and get on back to school

Or steal my daddy's cue and make a living out of playing pool

Or find a rock and roll band that needs a helping hand

    Maggie May - Rod Stewart

    You're the cutest thing
    That I ever did see
    I really love your peaches
    Want to shake your tree

    The Joker  Steve Miller

Oh, I can't take another heartache
Though you say you're my friend, I'm at my wit's end
You say your love is bonafide, but that don't coincide

Cruel to be Kind - I forget the artist..

    It's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team

John Prine seems to shut this thread down...the song was Hello in There.   I won't do any more of his

Try this one :   I live in an apartment on the 99th floor of my block
    And I sit at home
lookin' out the window imagining the world has stopped

Get Off Of My Cloud - Rolling Stones

    Broken glass and empty hallways

Pale dead moon in a sky streaked with gray

    Human kindness is overflowing, and...

    you let me down again.....

Buttercup, not sure of the artist.

You had me several years ago

when I was still quite naive

You said that we made such a pretty pair

and that you would never leave

    Carly Simon, You're so  Vain.

In the midnight moonlight hour, I'll be walking a long and lonely mile.
    And every
time I do, I keep seeing this picture of you.

Here Comes My Baby  -- Cat Stevens

(I Think It's Going To Rain Today....Randy Newman wrote it, many covered it.)

    See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
    Just be still with me
You wouldn't believe what I've been thru

The No No song by Ringo Starr?  I think

    Here's an easy one:

When I'm riding around the world

And I'm doing this and I'm signing that

And I'm trying to make some girl

Who tells me baby better come back later this week

    Satisfaction  --  Rolling Stones

(But mine was the opening to Nobody But Me  --  The Human Beinz)

    I'll try one more:

I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
Be nice and have fun in the sun

Itchycoo Park - The Small Faces

Close your eyes, have no fear

The monster's gone, he's on the run

     And your daddy's here....
