Teka:  Yep..I did that with the kids too..it's where I first got the idea!  Only with them, I went in once a month and cleaned because they never would...ever!  I remember using a garden rake to get plates, cups, icing cans, etc. from under the bed!  They actually turned out pretty normal, even after all that.

Took three boxes of 'stuff' to GW today.  Motivated to pack up more.  I see a new day for my den.

I always feel so good when I have decluttered any area. I don't understand why I delay doing it? Makes no sense at all?

Ginger: for me, its' because im so far behind, i get overwhelmed. the trick for me, is to see what i've done.. and not how much i need to do now......3jays

Big accomplishment - all washed laundry has been folded and put away! No baskets in the bedroom this week!

Does anyone else do this? I get the laundry done and then even partly folded but to put it away.... it takes until the basket is almost empty and the week over! It's like using the laundry basket for the dresser drawer. What's with that already. Didn't do this before BC, am I just getting lazy????  So, I washed clothes yesterday and have it all put away. Yeah.  This is huge right!

Mine usually stays in the dryer forgotten, until I need something like a towel or a pair of pants...then I go looking and remember I forgot to fold and put away.

Living in a small apartment (but one that HAS a washer/dryer), my usual routine is for things to go right from the dryer to the bed for sorting/folding - no extra basket for me. Of course, it could be days before it makes that journey. Mom was a bit baffled when she was here and took out the button-up shirts I've been wearing post-op and said, 'I assume you iron this' .... and got a blank but somewhat amused stare. Fortunately most of my shirts don't really wrinkle a lot, but I guess they would look even nicer if I did iron them. In any case, I got a brand new iron out of it (the one I had was one my Mom had picked up over 10 years ago at a tag sale). I guess once I can do heavy lifting again, I'll break it out once in a while!

Hand sewing - I absolutely detest sewing by hand.  I'd rather buy new - yes, I know it's a waste. Frown  I also tend to leave the clothes in the dryer.  Then I take them out, put the ones that have to be ironed into the den (where the ironing board is) and they sit there for weeks and weeks and weeks.  Of course that all adds to the clutter.

Ginger, I agree that it does feels good to get an area decluttered.  Right here on the couch I have tons of stuff, again.  It was clear last week.  I think someone sneaks in and puts things there when I'm not looking!  Going to clear it again right now.

The end table next to where I usually sit piles up even as I am unpiling it!  Right now I can see two gator ade bottles, a bowl from some rice pudding, spoon, house phone, cell phone, three new bibs for Granddaughter, brush for dog, 5 remotes, Saduko book (which I still haven't learned to do) TV channel guide (which has a font so small I can't read it) Dog comb, paper napkins ( that the puppy hasn't spotted yet. Two coasters, Toy catalogue, blunt nose scissors, 500 bottle of Ibuprophen, and Lamp.My glasses, foot lotion, Container store catalogue.

    It was pretty clear yesterday.

Ginger, I wish you could hear me giggling as I read your list.  So funny.

So instead of clearing the couch beside me of the laptop laptray (which the laptop is not on), handbag, remote, 2 books and my Kindle, today's junk mail, magnifying glass so I can read the books, new facial sauna machine, back scratcher, empty popcorn bag, I went out food shopping.

Just thought I'd give my list so you would not feel alone  .  Laughing  Oh, now I see a Netflix DVD I've had for a few weeks that got buried under the "stuff".  Going to cancel Netflix - such a waste for me.

    Night friends.

    LOL loved the list!

I set my kitchen timer so I don't leave the stuff in the dryer to long. I try and dry for 30 min so I can take the slacks and blouses, T-shirts, etc out and hang them up so they don't get to wrinkled.... so they don't need ironing (hopefully) Does anyone have a technique for getting blouses so they look ironed after being ironed? Mine still look 1/2 ironed.

The sheets come off the bed - go into the washer/dryer and then back on the bed. One easy step!

samsue, my boss does the same with the sheets.  I couldn't believe she only had one set for her and one set for her DD.  Who only has one set of sheets for a bed?  I have my bed and my DS bed (both queen size)  and have at least 12 sets of sheets.  Yeah, that's clutter!  Think I'll donate some and keep only 2 summer sets and 2 flannel (winter) sets for each of us (total 8).

Can't help you on the wrinkles because they all look wrinkled to me even after hanging wet so I end up ironing anyway.

Patoo, I've narrowed it down to two sets... would love to try the flannel though. BTW, I've got a queen bed.
