I had a SNB and, so far no LE. I was surprised by the sauna; many seem to use it. Although I won't be using it, I like the idea of sweating out toxins. I will have to do it through exercise.

Supplements: livton complex, vitanox, and omega D3 liquid. One of them, I can't remember which one, is a highly concentrated equivalent to green tea (40 cups worth) and the other is liver support for those of us whose liver suffered through chemo. The Naturopath also gave me a recipe for a potent protein drink which I haven't tried yet. I can type it out if anyone wants it.

I read Deanna's post also---going to get up now and get moving!

Cath, I would love to see the protein drink recipe!  And interesting about needing liver support.  My naturopath said the same thing based on my hormone testing, even though I finished chemo 3 years ago.

Did you get your stitches out today, Joy?  Hope so!

I walked for 50 mins. this afternoon, which was about all the time I could squeeze into my schedule.

Can't believe tomorrow is Friday already!  Where did the week go?     Deanna

Thanks for the website. It does look good.

Got my stitches out and he retested another spot on my left cheek. At least it was only one spot. If it comes back negative I won't have to see him till February. It will be nice to go a few months with seeing a doctor.

My ex wants to finalize the divorce. We still haven't had the settlement so this might get interesting.  I would like to have the settlement first but in NC that can wait till later. So that means I could lose my health insurance. Something else for me to worry about!

Raining and chilly today. I work second shift. I did finally turn the heat on to get the dampness out of the trailer. Everyone have a great weekend.

Cath, thanks for listing the supplements, I looked them up and they look like a power house of antioxidants! YAY!  My DH has a really Milk Thistle and Liver Support supplements, he wanted me to take them after treatment also to detox. I would also like to see the protein drink recipe when you get a chance.

A local day spa is getting a Naturopath doc soon, I am interested in that.

Joy, I hate to think of you losing your health insurance.  My sister is in the very same boat as you and she has Multiple Sclerosis.  I worry so much about her, she's waiting for her hubby to file for divorce still.

Took yesterday off, but am working 1/2 day so DH and I will do something before we babysit our little grandbaby girl tonight.  DH is really excited to see her again! :)

Deanna, thanks for another great website!

Joy, yeah, don't like you loosing your benefits. Can you get that in the settlement somehow?

OK so I'd also like to see this protein drink! I hope it doesn't have dairy.... :)

Yikes ladies, really over did the weights yesterday I think.

    Deanna, great website!

Here's the protein shake info. some of you were interested in. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say how it tastes. She said to have one of these every morning:

    Whey Protein Isolate

    1 cup almond milk- unsweetened

    1/2 cup dark berries

    1 tbsp cocoa powder

    2 tbsp flax seeds

    1 tbsp chia seeds

    1 tsp psyllium

    Enjoy?

Hi Everyone - sorry for being MIA ...I had some difficulties and was fighting depression. I am not sure how it sneaked upon me, but it was hard to shake it. Can Herceptin cause depression? In addition, I also quit my "new" therapist two weeks ago, she was great, but the people at the center were non-supportive. To make matters worse, I also had a bit of an injury. I hit my toe on a furniture and was in a lot of pain with it. My toe was purple for a week. But yesterday, at last, I went back to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical, plus I rode my bike to the gym and back. Today, I did the same. Yeah baby, I am back! It felt so good!

Cath - Hello to you and welcome to our group. Thank you for the great whey protein milk shake idea. I am going to try it. I have to look up chia seeds though.

Joy--I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with your divorce and that your insurance coverage is at stake. I am with Spring on this one-----is there a way for you to include that in your settlement? I never got insurance from my H.... now that I think of it... I never got much from him at all. Sadly, I had to get medicaid to cover my cancer treatment. Thankfully, I was approved for it and I am very grateful for it.  Next year, I may not get it, but we'll see then.

Deanna- I loved the "eat-to-defeat" website and will do more readings there. I loved the Vitamin K in the Gouda and Edam cheese that is cancer fighting. Who knew? I didn't and I am thrilled to hear it, as I love cheese.

Q: I read above somewhere that sauna can trigger LE? Is that possible? I have been using the steam room after workouts at the gym and was wondering....maybe I shouldn't?

Speaking of LE - I just got my LE alert arm-band in the mail. You can get one for free too. I am going to wear it the next time I get my Herceptin infusion.

Have a nice weekend Everyone!  ((((HUGS)))

Cdairth, darn, Whey is dairy! pooh.

SurvivorWoman, glad to have you back. Hang in there, I hope the exercise will help some with the depression. Toe injuries are the worst!!! And yes, I would think excess heat like a sauna could contribute to LE. I think it would do me in!!

50 minute bike ride today, in layers, ear warmers and gloves! It was beautiful though, even if a bit chilly. The leaves are changing color, so pretty outside! We drive up to NJ tomorrow to visit family (I will work there during the week) and then next wkend is my High School Reunion! It is going to be fun I think...

Woke up sick with a cold. Like you Spring, I was cold on my bike too. I guess, I did not bundle up, though, I was wearing layers, too. I have to use my big scarf from now on. Hope you have a safe trip coming our way and have FUN at the reunion Spring!

Now, I somehow have to get myself ready for work.....grrrr...

Where did all of this wind come from. Suppose to be in the 60's but this wind makes it feel a lot colder. The extra hour got me to church on time today.

I have the insurance on the settlement table but have no idea when we are going to settle. I think it should be done before the finalization of the divorce but I don't get a vote on it. Everyone is thinking he must have plans and that is the reason for the sudden divorce thing. He is still living in our house! So I get to sit back and hope for the best. I will keep you posted. I will not go down without a fight.

Survivorwoman where do you work? I thought I was the only one who worked on weekends. I go in at 3.

Spring be safe and lookout for the snow!!! And have fun at the reunion.

Did a real workout today: 35 min. on the bike doing intervals, walking and stretching. Legs didn't feel as bad as in the past. Maybe things are looking up. You ladies are motivating me. I think I'm going to take my exercise outdoors tomorrow while I can. Exercise is good for depression, especially if you go outside. I'm toying with the idea of getting cross country skis for the winter.

Cath- cross country skiing sound so good. When I am on the elliptical, I always imagine that I am skiing.

Joy- I sent you a PM. Let's meet on FB, too. I sent you the details.

So, I came down with a cold. I was miserable at work. I am not sure if I am going to get the next Herceptin treatment on Wednesday if I am not too well. I am a bit upset about me getting this cold. Now, I am afraid to do exercising too until I feel better. I am drinking chicken broth I froze a week ago thinking ahead in case I get sick.

Survivor, sorry about the cold, not something you need! Frozen chicken broth - smart woman!

Cath, GOOD FOR YOU!! Exercise is good for depression, it think it releases endorphins and this makes you feel better generally. It sure helps me anyway! My body feels like such a slug when I don't exercise.

So here is my challenge this week: I am working in NJ visiting family. I have no bike, elliptical or yoga class. Typicaly I come here and do nothing, and feel horrible, I eat wrong, and feel like super slug by the time I leave here. I am bound and determined to do SOMETHING 30 minutes a day. I saw a list of callistenic type things, and I can also walk.

Somebody tell me I can do this!!!

Dear God, please help me do this! Amen. :)

Spring..  Is there an athletic club nearby?  Some have daily guest rates, so maybe could work something out for you.  Ditto for a nearby hotel that has an exercise room.  Maybe call and explain your situation, and see if you could possibly pay a small daily fee to use it midday when it probably will be empty anyway.  Or if there's a resort with a spa, book a massage or facial and you can usually use all of the spa/exercise room facilities while you're there.  Just some thoughts...

Good thoughts Deanna, or Spring, I've done this in the past also...if I can't walk outside, then do intervals of jumping jacks, or if you can put some music on do some aerobics, do 2 min intervals, the time passes more quickly.  YOU CAN DO IT SISTA, YOU CAN DO IT!!

Cath, thanks for the protein shake recipe.  I remember I bought Whey protein during chemo and hated the taste of it.  I think it was vanilla flavored.  I do make a smoothie each morning and my newest addition is 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. Dr. Oz was touting these too.  I found a huge bin of them at a store like Sprouts Farmers Market.  Never thought of the cocoa powder!  I put cinnamon and spinach, greek yogurt for the protein and lots of dark berries!  yummo! and i eat walnuts with it.  I feel so much better each day than my pre-cancer breakfasts.

Not so much exercise this weekend I'm afraid.  Didn't eat so great either.  Back on track today though and have Pi-Yo class tonight, yay!

Survivor, sorry to hear about your depression, but sounds like you are feeling better.

Joy, your soon to be ex still lives in your house?  That's exactly what my sister was experiencing, thought she finally got out in Sept.  She has never been happier, but is stressing about when her H is finally going to file too.

    Spring, have a great time!

    Hugs all!

    Spring,

Good luck with your NJ challenge. Here's another idea: find a nearby flight of stairs and use them for your workout. I've do e this before. People think your kind of nuts climbing the same flight of stairs over and over again, but who cares.

Hi everyone.  Glad to see you are all keeping busy.

I went to Maryland this weekend with my dh.  Man, that long ride in the car just about did me in!

The trip back was a little bit easier.   BUT...  around the halfway mark, I noticed that my left (LE) hand had swollen up!  My wedding ring wouldn't come off...  I finally got it off, and I started doing some LE massage to the arm and the hand.  I am upset to think that is always going to be an issue for me.

Hope you all have a great week!  I hate it when Daylight Savings Time ends!  I hate it when it gets DARK so early!!

Spring, you can also take a weight with you for arm exercises while you walk.  I use a litre bottle of water and do lots of arm curl reps while I walk.

Joy, I'm so sorry about all the divorce stuff.  I hope you can hold your own and get whatever you want and deserve.  Let us know if we can help you in anyway. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hope you feel better soon, surivor.  In addition to chicken soup, my favorite cold fighter (both as a preventative and to treat) is Emergen-C.  And ever since doing chemo, I'm almost obsessive about hand washing, especially as the weather gets colder and there are more sick people around.

Harley, do you have an LE sleeve?  Or I wonder if the long sleeve Under Armour compression shirts Spring told us about have enough compression in the sleeves to be a preventative when you travel?

I walked close to 4 miles this morning.  It was our coolest morning yet here and felt wonderful! There was even a dusting of snow on the mountains surrounding our valley.  It was so pretty, I snapped a couple of photos with my phone.  If they came out (gonna check now), I'll put them on FB.     Deanna

Spring you can do it. I love the ideas everyone gave you.

I get to take care of Aunt Libby's cats while Susan is out of town. I am so allergic to them. I went over there this morning to get the routine of feedings and came home and took my allegra. Guess I will take it each morning before going over there. My roommate from college is visiting her sister Susan for a few weeks so we will get some time together. Aunt Libby says I'm the shortest of the three of us and I'm 6'2".

Enjoying the warm weather before Friday when the bottom drops out. Then it will get warmer next week again. Doors open and loving it. Everyone have a great day.

kmmd, are you doing ok since you overdid the weights last week?

Walked and did Pi-Yo and some extra yoga stretches after last night.  I had a 90 minute massage on Sunday, through a Living Social deal I bought months ago. This guy had such strong pressure, I mean really strong, but oh so very thorough.  He did mention my knots and that my neck has issues.  Duh...

Harley, sorry to hear about your hand swelling issues, I find a lot of times I can't wear my wedding ring because of slight swelling, but nothing too bad, I just don't wear the ring all the time.  I hope you find a solution.

Spring, love to hear you got out for a walk while the weather was so nice and can do it again today.

Deanna, LOVE your pics on FB, I can just imagine myself there with that beautiful scenery!!

I too, am not a big fan of the darkness early.  When I got off work yesterday, the sun was low and it was chilly.  It was hard dragging myself to Pi-Yo class at 6:30, there were only 7 of us there, seems others stayed home and warm instead.

I have to attend a Broker Open House during my lunch hour today to assist.  There goes my lunch time walk.  Will have to figure out something else tonight.  I do have a treadmill at home, but its just not the same.

Walked 1 hour yesterday, 1/2 step exercise today. I also signed up for "easy" yoga classes. I hope I'm ready for the yoga. Flexibility is still an issue. I assume the Pi-Yo classes are Pilates and Yoga together. Wish we had those around here. Nice weather here again. I can't believe how long we are getting away with this. We hit 15 Celsius!

    thanks, Kari,

I just take my rings off, or wear them on the RIGHT hand...   I always take them off at night now...

Then I massage my hand, whenever it is swollen...

Cath, had to look up 15 celcius, which is 59 degrees Farenheit!  Great weather indeed!!  Yes PiYo = Pilates/yoga.  The girl who has been teaching the class for a couple of months is a fill in for the regular girl, who is on leave of absence til 1/1/12.  The original girl was a lot harder, but I am enjoying the new girl's routines with lots of deep stretches and core work.

Walked on treadmill last night, did an incline program and then did some yoga, now my triceps are really sore again!  Walked at lunch today and did jumping jacks this a.m.

Headed over to DD's house after work to actually have dinner with her and my GDD! yay!!

Hi Ladies- I am at last well enough to log in. The cold I had for several days had knocked me off my feet so was not able to do anything. I went to the hospital for a Herceptin treatment on Wednesday. Because  I had no fever, they decided to let me have it. I have been feeling even more run down ever since. I could not even go to work. I hope to recover soon though. It is nice to hear that  you all are well and exercising. Best wishes to all.

Survivor- good to see you here again!  You've been on my mind.  Is Hercepting cumulative?  Or do you think the mix of your cold and your Herceptin treatment has you really run down?  Sending healing gentle vibes your way.  Lots of people with colds lately...everyone do your best to de-germ!!

I didn't make it to DD's the other night.  I was in line at Whole Foods and she called and said she was out of class early, so I opted out and headed home to try a new recipe which was pretty tasty.  Walks at lunch and babysitting GDD tomorrow, so happy to see her again.

    How is everyone doing?
