ILC, high ki67 and tamoxifen

Hi, I just finished chemo ( 4 FEC 60 and 12 taxol) and are supposed to start tamox i a few weeks. All I read about high ki67 is that tamox does not have an effect on high ki67. I hope the chemo helped but I am worried about tamox not helping. ILC are usually slow growing and respond well to endocrine therapy, but not so well to chemo. Does any of you have had a fast growing ILC and is premenopausal? What plans does your doctor have with your treatment? Grateful for any comment. Regards, Steff

    Steff,

I don't know the Ki67 of my tumor. I wanted to know but it's not in my path report and when I asked my MO about it, he said it isn't meaningful by itself. I see that your tumor was grade 2 which seems to conflict with the high ki67. Did your MO send the oncotype test? The result of that may put you more at ease. I was premenapausal but 48yo when diagnosed. I opted to have my ovaries out so that I could go on AI's. My MO wasn't particularly supportive of my decision. He thought that I would be fine on Tamoxifen. I just didn't want to worry about uterine cancer and mets to ovaries so I got rid of the ovaries. If you're concerned about Tamoxifen, you could consider getting Lupron shots to shut your ovaries down and go on an AI. Ofcourse, all of this is somewhat dependent on your age and how close you are to menapause anyway.
