newbie - need advice for fillers
Hi all,
Hope I am posting in the right place. I had a lumpectomy June 16, followed by radiation. Burned and peeled from radiation, so I had been wearing sports bras in the interim. Today was my first day to wear a "real" bra to work. I would estimate that I am now a cup size smaller on the lumpectomy side. So in my "real" bra, the lumpectomy side could use some filling. I thought about stuffing something in there this morning, but it's cold here today so the difference in size is not noticeable under my sweaters. Would appreciate hearing what works or doesn't work for people, and where you buy them, or how to make them. A while back I went with a BC friend to a specialty bra store, and she got some bras and a silicon insert - but the insert was $300! So I'm looking for some lower cost alternatives. Thanks,
Pat

If you want to be fitted for an insert, which might be expensive, your insurance may cover it. But you can also purchase silicone "enhancers", which are not expensive. Here's a link to a whole bunch: http://www.herroom.com/breast-enhancers,etcetera,102,006,10.html. If you purchase from a reputable site like this, they can be returned if they don't work out. Also, I believe you can find enhancers at stores like Target, Walmart, etc.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the link. These are exactly what I was looking for, but I didn't know what to call them! I'll also check Walmart and Target, would never have thought to look there.
Thanks,
Pat
PS - back in sports bra today, wearing my "real" bra for a whole day left my boob swollen and sore

Here are some other cheap options that might work for you ... http://www.tlcdirect.org/subcategory/LumpectomyProducts.html
I need to be evened out in some bras and the round ones are very comfortable and work nicely. Don't know if they would make up a full cup size or not though. I do know they make more difference than I expected them to.

I have used enhancers I found at Stein Mart, Kohl's and the local department store.
I have also found a use for shoulder pads that I found tucked the the back of a drawer. I use a soft, folded in half shouler pad to fill out the bra on my reconstructed side. My implanted, reconstructed side does not fill out the tip of my bra so I stuff the bra with a soft shoulder pad!
