Having just eaten waaaaaay tooooo much Halloween chocolate (only the good stuff!), I just want to check: There's no documented connection to lymphedema, RIGHT????

Better yet, after reading all the 'sending you chocolate brownies' comments when everyone is consoling each other in all these threads, can I possibly convince myself that chocolate is actually therapeutic?

I'm a bit puffy tonight.  Should I eat MORE CHOCOLATE???

Lymphedema feels like such an evil trick, but finding so many caring women in these LE threads has been a real treat.

So, I thought I would post a Halloween thank you to everyone who has dropped helpful information into my treat bag.  You sure have helped me navigate my way up the LE learning curve in these past weeks.

Well, Carol, all I have to say is, if chocolate is not good for LE I don't want to know it.

    Pass the brownies, please.

I don't know the answer, but I had my share of chocolate tonight, and I'm not feeling so good myself. Frown I have been cheating recently with the cold weather and having a second cup of tea in the morning . . I'm thinking just that extra caffeine is not good. And I always forget that chocolate has caffeine, too. Shoot! Where's that water . . uh, MLD, yes, that too. I do not like this. Yell I am flying on Friday, and I want to be in tip top shape. Why is it I always seem to flare before a trip? Perhaps it's stress related.

    In the news today:

"If you have a sweet tooth, you're more likely to have a sweet personality.  That's according to a new study from the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology finds people who ate chocolate were more likely to volunteer their time to help those in need.  That's compared to people who ate crackers, spicy foods, or nothing at all.  Another test found people who ate chocolate were more agreeable and helpful."

That's why everyone is so helpful on this site - we do love our chocolate and brownies!

OK, I like chocolate AND spicy.  So where do I fit?

Anyway, I figured I was doing my civic duty to test the chocolate before the children took any home.  I will continue to test throughout the day.

Give up chocolate?  NEVER!!!  I did give up my coffee.  I dream about it more than indulging though as I am trying to lose weight.  I like my chocolate pure--nothing mixed in such as peanut butter.  Dreaming about eating a big dark chocolate brownie right now.  Are there calories in daydreaming about food?

Well dang, I must be the nicest lady in town. (I do actually extend myself a lot to folks...)

I just wanted to recommend stevia as a baking alternative.  Sugar is off diets for osteoporosis, and it's also not supposed to be good for cancer survivors. I use it in coffee, and try to bake with it.  Chocolate does have a lot of caffeine, so I now try to slip more decafs into my life.  For those of you on AIs, caffeine is also hard on bone health, so another thing to consider.  The fun never ends!!!

That said, for every piece of candy I gave to kids, I gave one to myself.  I ate the motherload last night.  TFB!

One other aside, if you haven't tried a rebounder, you can pick one up for $85.  I love mine, it provides some variety to my workouts (let's face it, I'd rather be eating chocolate).  It is supposed to be awesome for the lymphatic system.
