More whining about follow up mammograms
Third follow up mammo today. 18 months.
I dreamt about my BS two weeks ago and decided that was a bad omen.
Everyone on my project at work was laid off today with no notice. Not good.
And I'd just booked a weekend flight to LA, which I wouldn't have done had I known.
Soooo......
Raining, mucho traffic, arrive 15 mins late. Sit around. Have mammo.
Sit around waiting for Dr. to give news.
Sit around.
Sit around.
Sit around.
Start to panic.
Start to get hungry.
Sit.
Finally ask if they'd forgotten about me. Woman says she'd just gotten the request to take more pictures.
Sit around.
More squishing. Of breast formerly known as good.
Sit around.
Sit around.
Sit around.
Start to panic.
Another woman gets me and says she'll be doing my ULTRASOUND now.
Panic really setting in.
Have ultrasound.
She leaves, says Dr will be in shortly.
Thinking if next stop will be MRI or biopsy. Thinking how am I gonna deal with this now that I'm unemployed? Thinking do I want to do lump + rads or am I ready for the big BMX? Thinking I'm relieved I didn't do the DIEP before, so I still have big fat stomach to use for upcoming BMX. Or do I want to do lumpectomy + rads? Thinking how much I hate Tamoxifen if it's this friggin useless...
Dr. comes in.
It's a cyst.
I PASSED MY MAMMOGRAM AFTER ALL!!!!!!!

Thankgoodness!!! Whew! Sorry about the job though!

CONGRATULATIONS! It stinks that you can't just get the two squish per side mammos, a quick "everything's fine" and leave before the waiting room clears . . . and clears again -- me, too, it's so stressful {tears} but now you can get a good night's sleep!
Is your next mammo. scheduled for 6 or 12 months?

Actually, the radiologist and I had a conversation about that. She mentioned that since I'd had a reduction surgery instead of a plain vanilla lumpectomy, my margins were probably very good (I don't remember! Shocking! I think they were good but not crazy good...will have to check) and therefore I was really a "special case" and probably don't need to do mammos more than every 12 mos. I replied that I just wasn't emotionally ready to go back to annual screening...so, at least for now, I'll be back in 6 mos. Will discuss with my BS at next visit. I see her every 6 mos, too.
Thanks everyone!

GREAT News!!! Congratulations. GO CELEBRATE!

Good for you!! I was hoping for news like that, after going through a similar journey, but instead I'm going to get a biopsy. I have to keep telling myself that most of them turn out to be nothing.
