Are steroids used with all chemotherapy meds?

I was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer, stage 2. Oncologist said in consult that he will probably be unable to prescribe chemotherapy, since I am allergic & sensitive to Corticosteroids. What is the alternative to Corticosteroids? Are they given with all chemo meds?

I suggest you get a second opinion. Not every chemo requires steroids...abraxane is one that comes to mind. I am diabetic and my oncologist reduced my steroids to just a small dose on chemo day. The steroids supposedly reduce side effects. I have to think there is a way to treat you without them. If necessary, go to a NCI-designated cancer center.
