Brain mets only

Options
I am curious.....I've read that breast cancer metastasizing to the brain first is very unusual.....that it usually gets into the bone, lung or liver first.......has anyone here had it in their brain first and if so did they have any symptoms?

Please understand that I am curious....not worried!

Don't know where mine started..I was diagnosed with it in my brain, liver, and bone. The symptoms for me were blurry vision and headaches. I kept feeling my head "sponge up". I had 5 treatments of radiation and feel a little better. But I am still very frightened! (These symptoms started in May 2010) I have too many tumors so radiaton and chemo are my only hope.

    Hi there

I have just been diaagnoisised with met's to the lining of my brain after being ever so vidulant after five years, but no where else. Will be having radiation treatment only for approximately five to six weeks. Symphtoms are server headaches, nausea, vommiting, lack of sleep limited walking, blurry and sometimes double vision. And that's just on the out side of the lining of your brain.

feeling pretty tired all the time and not much energy to do anything so hopefully when the radiation starts will feel a bit better

    stage 3 breast cancer

A relative has just been diagnosed with 1 brain met. She is still on herceptin. I wanted to know were any of you given PET scans regularly during your initial treatment? How were the mets found?  Also when you are diagnosed with Her2 positive BC don't the oncologists have to be more proactive to check for mets ? Or does it seem like I am just trying to find someone to blame for the brain met?  How could it escape their attention when she is still in their care..? She is so scared and has 2 small children

No idea.  I was diagnosed with spine and brain mets but was not told which would have come first - I suspect the 'hotspot' in the centre of my spine directed them upwards and downwards from that point but I don't know for sure - I will ask at the next opportunity I get.

I was diagnosed with one brain met in the dura around the brain last year. Little sucker came back this year and I just had a craniotomy and cyberknife radiation. I have been clear everywhere else. Hopefully I am done with this mess.
