Hello,

I am new to this site and am looking to connect with people in a similar situation as mine.

I am 28 and was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 27. I just finished Chemo and will be starting radiation in a couple weeks.

My sister had breast cancer at 29 and is now 33 and doing very well. We had no family history AT ALL, so when my sister was diagnosed it was a HUGE shock. She was tested for the BRCA gene and came back positive. She informed us of this information but we didn't really understand what it meant. I had just had a baby so I was enjoying my new family. I thought to myself...I will deal with this later. When my son was 10 months old I found a lump while breastfeeding. It was cancer...:( I have been tested and I am positive for the BRCA gene as well.

There are good days and bad...I try not to think about the future and just live my life day by day...

How do you do it? I want to have more kids but I am so scared..

We have done fertility and have eggs ready to be tested for the gene.

There are just so many questions and things I want to know but it seems no one can answer me.

Thanks everyone..I look forward to hearing from you

Lindsay

    Dear Lindsay,

I was so sorry to have read your post. I never was tested for the BRCA gene but I received really close MRI and mammo monitoring screening because of my strong family history. I'm sure the ladies here will have some answers and resources for you.

Has your oncologist been able to answer any of your questions or pointed you in the direction to get them? My best luck has always been to go to a medical center that was University based so they had more cutting-edge info (i.e., UCLA Medical Center in LA; UCSD Medical Center in San Diego....)
Please rest up when you can and know we are here for you..... T
