Scans, MRIs etc

I had a double mas in Sept and currently undergoing chemo (ACT)

When do a get a pet scan, MRI or other scan ?

My onco said there is no need for it right now, but do they only do that after the fact as part of the check up or do tyou have to displays symptoms ?

    My onc  sent me for scans after I decided on lumpectomy, everything clear, nodes clear, hindsight I think I would have liked to have known this before surgery in case there was anything there that would make me have masectomy instead...everyone has different protocol.  I had catscat of abdomen, chest xray, and bone scan before chemo started.   I was also TN, higher risk than er+.  I know many here, and other friends not on this site that have not had any scans routinely, only with symptoms.

    Tappy, ask your onc specifically when tests/scans are done.  IF you are anxious about this let onc know this too.  Hope you are able to get answers that will put your mind at ease.
