Hope I am not starting Round 2

Options

This last year has been quite a journey but I got thur it and today I went for my pap and my gyn asked me if I had been bleeding I told her no I haven't did that since 1995. She seemed worried and said she found a yellowest discharge so she is sending me for US. Now I have 2 weeks to worry and wonder . Of course the first thing that pops into my head is the dreaded "C " word. I was just wondering if anyone might have an ideal what this could be.

Hi Nancy - I am post-menopausal and often get a discharge.  Sometimes it's yellowish and sometimes pinkish.  My doctor thinks the pinkish discharge is caused by vaginal dryness which causes some minor bleeding from the skin of the vagina.  I do have a unterine fibroid which they check with a vaginal ultrasound every year or two and so far it hasn't changed, but that could be contributing to the discharge as well. I have more discharge since being menopausal, and since Arimidex takes even more estrogen, perhaps that is a cause as well. I think there can be many causes for the discharge that are not C, so I wouldn't worry overly about it being that.  I know, once we've been diagnosed with one type of C, it's hard not to see things from that perspective.

Good luck and let us know how the U/S goes.  Melon

HI there , I dont have this issue, but I am also menopausal. I have a discharge similar to little melons. I think your doctor could also be looking for infection. Instead of worrying though, call him/her on Monday and ask what they are looking for. They'd rather you call and ask than sit and worry. I find also once you have BC or any cancer doctors are quick to check other odd symptoms out. they dont want to miss anything.  Its better to rule out issues. Good luck to you and I hope its nothing. It sounds like your doctor is being proactive and thats good.

I had a yellowish d/c on my last pap. I went into chemopause at 49. The dr cultured it but it turned out to be nothing.

Haven't experienced this, but wanted to wish you luck. Also want to note that I know many women, including some BC survivors, who have had abnormal paps which turned out to be nothing. Here's hoping that's the case for you.

Well  the US showed a small cyst on my right ovary so she did a blood test to check the levels of my CA125. Wont get that back until next Thur or Fri.. If they come back elevated than she will want to take out my ovaries if not than I go get another US in two months and see if it has changed or grew. Now all I can do it wait (I should be use to that by now ) :)

I had the same thing last spring.  They did the u/s and then wanted to do an MRI. I was beside myself until the results came back - but they said it was nothing to worry about, just go on about your life. So I did.  Seems like a long time ago now..but at the time it was SCARY.

    Good luck.

I am so happy my CA125 level came back 12, so now just have to have a recheck on the US in 2 months to see if that cyst changed any ..

Well had my second US last Friday and got my results back this passed Thursday. NO visual was found (whatever that means) so know I have got to have a pelvic MRI. I was hoping I was done with doctors for 6 months but I guess not. I hate MRI's but I gotta do what I gotta do. :(
