vomiting

Although only 10% of those taking arimidex have a naseau/voimiting side effect, I happen(ed) to be in that 10%.  It hit me when I first started taking the arimidex, and my ONC gave me some anti-nausea medicine that helped.  I needed to take less and less as my body adjusted, and then was fine.  Now after 2 years of taking the meds without vomiting, I have been vomiting on and off for the last 3 months while internest, gastroenterologist, and oncologist disagree  about potential cause.  ONC says vomiting couldn't be due to the meds since I've been ok for so long.  However after not much help from the medical community and my taking note of when and under what conditions I am vomiting, I discovered that it is always about 3 1/2 hours after I get up, eat breakfast, and take way too many meds (brain injury from car accident contributes to most of the meds though of course the arimidex is there, too).  Since I sleep and wake up and eat at other times of the day, I figured it had to be the meds.

After throwing up into a wastebasket at a work meeting this past Monday, I decided to just stop taking all meds for a week to see what happened.  Well, no meds, no vomiting.  Now I am planning to add back my meds 1 a week and see if/when the vomiting comes back.  I'm going to add in the arimidex last.  Thereby proving to myself if it is or is not the meds.  I've been taking all the meds for years, and the arimidex is the only one that ever made me vomit.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had side effects (this one or others) reappear after period of time or just start up after a length of taking medications without having side effects.  Everyone's body is different, but I can't really understand why it would be so impossible to have a side effect reappear.  any thoughts?

I had the worst nausea I've ever experienced while on Femara.  One episode was so bad, I ended up passing out, and promptly quit taking it.  So I know it can happen.  In my case, I was already post-menopause and had had to go cold turkey on HRT when I was dx'd.  I believe the double whammy to my hormones within such a short time was the problem, but I ended up resorting to a natural aromatese inhibitor because there was no way I could risk another episode like the one, which started while I was driving to the post office and ended up on the floor there.     Deanna

Have you considered spacing out the times you take your meds instead of taking them all at one time? If you are taking them all at one time, it may be possible that the meds are disagreeing with one another & in turn causing the vomiting.

I remember reading that your body can't possibly absorb all your meds or vitamins and the like, if you take them all together.  I try to space out what I take throughout the day, in the hope that they will be better absorbed by my body.
