Janis, sorry to hear that you require more surgery.

I'm 26/36 today.  Two more whole breast treatments and 8 boosts to go.  I am so tired and ready to be done.  It's so encouraging to hear how well those of you who are already finished are doing!

I'm not on the computer very much right now but I think about y'all all the time.

    Hugs,

    Steph

I finished up with Rads this morning. My 4 techs were all there. They threw glitter on me when I was done and gave a radiation completion certificate. They are all so sweet, caring and supportive. I go back the day before Thanksgicing and boy do I have a lot to be thankful for! On to Tomaxifen tomorrow.

Wednesday I'm starting the Livestrong survivor program at my local YMCA. I can't wait to move forward with my life!

Leighsa, HUGE congratulations to you for finishing.  You are most welcome for my prior post.  I loved it and thought it suited you and this great day.  Moving forward feels so good!  Big hugs to you.

Steph, you hang in there, you are so close.  You can do this!  It is so great when you are this close and can see the finish line ahead.  Good luck, I'll be right here with you.

Kate....this has been so strange, first the BC and now this surgery.  The good thing is, my thyroid surgery trumped my colonoscopy!

    Leighsa

Congrwtulations! You've done it! How cute for your techs to throw a mini-party and good for you to get right back in the pool.....I love it

Steph, I hear the boosts are easier, so I sure hope they are for you. You're almost done and have come so far...

Janice, I'm sorry to hear they're doing the thyroid surgery, but it's much better to get this taken out now than worry about it any longer. I also had half my thyroid removed 34 years ago due to a "pre-cancerous" tumor ( not normal cells but not full blown cancer yet). I'd be happy to give you first hand insight if you want it, just pm me. Good luck girl, I know you'll come thru this in blazing glory. Just allow time to recover......knowing you, you'll be up mowing the lawn the following day!

Janis, THAT SUCKS! Sorry to hear yet another procedure, but I know you will come out well. No doubt you are a tough cookie to crack. But, I agree you need to take it ease after and let yourself heal before you tackle any of your projects. I will be thinking of you and praying for you, keep us posted!

One week after my last treatment, and I'm so happy with the way my skin is looking.  The Vigilon gel dressing has worked miracles to heal the raw skin.  I used Aquafor several times yesterday all under the armpit area and this morning I used one of those scrungie things in the shower to sluff off the dry skin.  Worked wonders!  Now my skin isn't several different shades of peeling skin, it's all just sort of tan.  I'm happy because I have my follow up appt today and I think the doctor and nurse will be happy with how the skin is healing.

Also, what I'm happy about is that the raw skin had a certain odd odor and with its healing, the odor isn't there.

JANIS, I'm glad you mentioned the Neosporin helping your burn, I'll use it when rads are over, if it gets out of hand.  I'm glad you're gonna get those thyroid bumps outta there.

DIVINE, so glad your skin is healing, that odor thing worried me!  And wow, am I glad you told me the low-down on those stickers.  Why, just yesterday I was telling the rad tech how I couldn't wait to get the stickers off for boosts, especially "this one."  And the rad tech goes, "Which one?"  And I pointed, and he took it off.  FREEDOM.  It was right in the spot where I had a discoloration smudge that appeared just before I got diagnosed, and I told the docs a bit of it was still there at the surgical incision.  Doc said the incision margins were clear, so maybe it was a surgical injury. Well, soon as I could look, where they took the sticker off, DANG if that discoloration ain't still there, just like before.  I'm gonna tell rads doc to look at that thing and ask her if she can direct a helluva rads beam right there for me, please.

ALL, so many of you finishing up all at once!  I have read each and every post from all of you and I know the thrill you are feeling to get done.  Yesterday I had a "down" day, don't know why, figured it was after resting over the weekend and having to drag myself down to the hospital for rads on Monday.  I guess I finally am having some trouble recovering from the experience of radiation tiredness.  But my dog cheered me this morning as much as anything else, too.  She has her good days and bad days, she has a terrible problem walking around from a bad back, and this morning she did something she hasn't done in ages, and that is somehow make it down to the bedroom to say good morning.  Oh, that used to be a "big event" for her, she'd run up and down that hall with joy.  Bye for now sisters!  GG

Thanks for the encouragement, girls.  I got four new tattoos today around the boost site.  They marked me up yesterday, but I can't do the stickers and with all the cream, the paint wouldn't stay on!  ;o)  My RO said that I could use Neosporin during rads on the broken skin as long as my skin was clean before treatment.  Not sure if that helps anyone or not!

Leighsa and KS, huge congrats on finishing!  What a huge accomplishment to get through and move on!  Woohoo!

Divine, so glad to hear you are healing well!  Hope you got a good report from your RO!

Dogeyed, the fatigue is very real.  Hope you are able to get some rest, take care of yourself, and get some good doggie love.

I am so glad that you are healing well thedivinemrsm. Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post radsand I am completely healed rom radiation, but my back is still painful. I am going to see my medical oncologist Thursday, and I will ask him about my back. I have not seen an orthopedic doctor yet, because I am hoping this pain will just go away, but it doesn't seem to want to.

Divine I am so, so happy your skin is healing!  Mine is just slower and stubborn.  The underarm area is awful.  My breast is really swollen, which I am told is normal.  Last night I was up all night.  The pain in that underarm area was so bad, plus the weight of the breast just hurt to move.  I finally took 4 Advil and put a sports bra on.  Then that irritatedthe underarm more, so i got up and got a fistful of cotton balls and stuffed those under the bra.  I finally slept for a few hours.  Got up and removed most of the cotton balls, but three were fused to the burns.  Ugh........got those off in the shower, but that burn ooze is like Super Glue!  After they came off and I was drying the burns started bleeding.  Just this one raw area and it is miserable.

ks matthews...BIG hugs to you, so happy you are finshed.  It feels like a milestone!

dogeyed.....I am so glad your dog was able to cheer you this morning.  I love my dogs so much!  I know how great that was for you this morning.  I hope she continues to surprise you!

Kate hope you get some resolution for your sore back.  I know how painful that can be.

I want to thank all of you wonderful, supportive ladies for listening to me, cheering me on, and supporting me.  We have all had a perilous journey, but support is a powerful thing.  You are the best!  Love and hugs my friends.

Janis, so sorry to hear you need more surgery and your skin is still so painful and raw. You are having a pretty rough year, but it sounds like you have an amazing attitude about it. I dunno about you but I am really hoping to be all done by the holidays and then to start off 2012 feeling healthy and stronger.

ksmathews, Congrats girl! Me too, they can't seem to make up their minds on my finish date, so today we did the last boost! I wasn't going to question it!

I'm done! They did give me the survey form, silly people, that was just stupid, lol. I have tomorrow and Friday off from work to just rest and try to get my mind back. My biggest objective is to write a survey letter that will hopefully change the way they deal with patients.

So happy for all who are done, and those that are closing in on that last day. I really could not have made it through all of this without all of you! The support here means the world to me, all you ladies deserve a pat on the back for being so kind, understanding and informative! This has been the BEST form of support!!!! I will always hold a place in my heart for each and every one of you as you all have taught me something through this.

I look forward to seeing you all on the "After Rads" thread. But I will still be here till the last one is done.

    Love you all!

Congratulations Stormy Yeah! Congratulations to you Tamcathtech on almost being finished. As for me, my back is still out-OUCH,but I am completely healed from rads which ended 4 weeks ago. I probably will have to see an orthopedic doctor, but I have just been hoping the pain will go away, and I haven't seen a doctor yet. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my medical oncologist, and I will ask him about it.
