Would you do it?

So, I still have in tissue expanders and need to have my reconstruction surgery.  I am considering the DIEP and looked into having it done in New Orleans, because they also offer the lymph node transfer surgery.  I talked to a women today and she said if I can do the DIEP (have enough stomach fat), then they take the lymph nodes from my stomach and put them under my arm. (I am sure there is more to it than that.)  If I have to have the GAP surgery then they would take a small amount from my groin area.  The first option sounds better to me for sure.  I do know it is not a cure, but it could help my lymphedema.  If I have to have reconstruction anyway, I figure why not?  She also said, no one has yet to develop secondary lymphedema from this surgery at their clinic, but it is a risk.  Because I am from out of town, I can take pictures and send them in, set up the surgery date and they do the consult a few days ahead of the surgery to save on the number of trips for people out of state like me. She sent me an email today with directions on the pictures I need to take.  (You can do an extra trip and have an earlier consult if you like).  Part of me says why not? and I think I am really leaning towards this and another part says it sounds like a crazy idea.  I think it is hard for friends and family to understand (they are all very supportive and say it is my decision), but you are all in my shoes... So, what would you do?
