Mum's Funeral was Yesterday
My Mum was promoted to Heaven on October 1. She won three out of four rounds with breast cancer, starting with it in 1995. This year, in January, it came back with a vengeance. I have been her primary caregiver and became her parent when it spread to her brain in August. She is finally cancer free and organizing the hell out of Heaven. We gave her a great sendoff yesterday, she was there with us - our little Genie in a Bottle now. We did a powerpoint presentation set to music, of her life in pictures and my cousins rocked the house with their band, playing Let it Be and a song we re-wrote together for Mum that was one of her favourite boogie woogie pieces. We laughed, we sang, we cried but we celebrated the beautiful and strong woman that she was.
I will love her and miss her for the rest of my life. Enough with the breast cancer awareness - let's find a friggin CURE!

and then, on October 3, my Dad passed away suddenly. They hadn't been together in over 45 years and weren't all that fond of each other. As their only child, I am dealing with a lot right now. Oh and two days after Dad died, my husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, so we are facing serious surgery in the next few weeks.
Have I mentioned how much I HATE cancer?
Sorry, no need to respond - just needed to vent. We haven't yet told my daughter about my husband. She's just lost two grandparents - this is just too much at once for her.

that is so much to deal with, I am am overwhelmed by some of the stories I hear on this board and the strenght of the members...
Wishing you strenght to help you with your journey (((hugsss and prayers)))))
I wish I had some words of wisdom (Let it Be) to make you feel better.

Oh Margi you have been through so much so sorry. I do hope in the midst of this you find time to do something for yourself, it is very difficult being a caregiver as you know. Go for a stress relieving massage, or a nice quite walk by yourself. It won't fix anything, but might give you some renewed energy. My heart goes out to you.

margi, i am so sorry for your losses and the news about your husband. i read some of your other posts about your mother, she was an amazing woman and she has an amazing daughter! are you sure you aren't a writer, you definately have the gift.
my heart and prayers go out to you and your family, please stay in touch, let us know how surgery goes for your husband and how you are doing.

thanks so much, folks. I would love to write, and my Mum definitely had the gift too. I found her "novelletta" on her computer six days after she died, so I shared it at her funeral.
Like I said, I would love to write. If I could just find the time....it's very cathartic for me. But for now, I'm still in fire fighting mode.
Thanks for the kind words though.

Wow.... Margi I don't know you but what I do know is that you must have incredible strength and courage. My mom is in (most likely) her final months of stage 4 breast cancer... and I lost my father to a plane crash when I was 12... and am an only child - so I can somewhat relate. I am just so sorry for such tremendous loss all at once. I will pray that your husband will pull through and that you will start to receive good and happy news in your life... you're due.
Please make time for your writing... it is a gift and it is also a great outlet. I will keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs from Colorado - Laura

Oh.... and I HATE CANCER too.....

Margi, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and father. I know the pain must be enormous. May G-d send you comfort.
I hope you find kind, caring docs to take care of your DH's cancer. May his treatments be gentle to him and harsh on the cancer.
All the best.
Leah
