Brain MRI
Hi, Everyone ~ I saw my PCP this week because of dizziness and some balance problems. I figured (hoped?) he'd say that is was just vertigo, but he said my symptoms weren't "classic" for vertigo and that with my BC history I should have an MRI. Oh joy.
I'll have the MRI Friday morning and will hopefully get the results that afternoon.
I don't know what to think. From what I've read, it's very unusual for mets to be in the brain without being somewhere else first, but I know it does happen. I'm just praying for the best, but trying to prepare for the worst. Grrr...I hate cancer.
Other symptoms are:
headache
nausea
bruised feeling on the side of my head
Plus, the doctor said I seemed a bit slow in answering his questions. I like to think I just hadn't had enough caffeine.
Any input from anyone will be greatly appreciated as will prayers, thoughts, vibes, handholding...whatever you got, I'll take it!
Artemis

I don't have any advice but I'm here holding your hand. <hug>

I had a brain MRII on Friday because of headaches for the past several weeks.it came back fine..thank goodness..but my oncologist will always err on the side of caution and do scans if there are any questions.. I have had balance problems since chemo as well.. Sure miss the days when a pan was just a pain! Hoping for good results for you..and sorry you are going through this

My sister, a 10-year triple neg survivor, just had a head CT because she was having headaches everyday, quite severe. She worried herself silly. So even after 10 years ,the fear is there but results came back fine and hopefully yours will too. My advice is to try not to go there unless you have to because it could be just so many other things ... like low caffeine levels, chemo brain (I know I still have "moments" 7 months after chemo), old age, hormone levels, etc.
Hoping for only good news.

I'm sure your doctor didn't make you feel any better when he mentioned the slow with answering questions! Thanks DOC! Friday is almost here, and I hope you have the test, get good results and have the best weekend EVER afterwords!

I had one for same reasons - dizziness, loss of balance, plus tingling in legs. It came back fine. I did have a valium before MRI because I was SOOO stressed! Turns out it was severe anxiety causing all those symptoms. Hope you get good news as well!

Artemis - my fellow Fury!!
I have just seen this and I am so, so sorry you have to go through this stress. Friggin Cancer.
I will be thinking of you tomorrow!!

Thanks so much, Everyone, for all the encouraging posts! I'm glad to hear of so many good results with similar symptoms!
kathleen1966 ~ Yep, I was rather startled when the doctor mentioned my slow reaction time??!! With that and my swaying around the room, no wonder he ordered the test.
minxie ~ I promise you I'll be properly doped up on Xanax when they do the scan, lol!
KerryMac ~ my sistah!! Thanks for posting and for your good thoughts tomorrow!!
I so hope to come here and post good news!
Hugs to all of you,
Artemis -
Thinking of you today, hope the Xanax does its thing.
Let us know when you are done!
((((hugs))))
-
The MRI is NORMAL!! Hallelujah!! Thank you all soooooooooooooo much for your support, hugs, prayers and handholding!
Kerry ~ the Xanax worked beautifully, and I was able to doze through most of the scan ~ yay!
Hugs all around,
Artemis -
Oh that feels so good to get normal results! A big congrats to you!
-
Oh yay, that just made my day. Wonderful, wonderful news!!
-
Congratulations Artemis, I'm so happy for you! I know how scared you must have been and how happy you are to hear normal results!
My mom had a brain scan a week ago after a neck MRI revealed a spot on her brain. She's also Her2+ so we were prepared for the worst. It was hell waiting for the results, but thankfully, her results were normal too!
-
Diane1960 ~ I'm so glad your mom's scan was normal. Being HER2+ and Grade 3 can make for scary thoughts! But...yay for clean scans!!
-
Congrats! I'm sure you had wonderful dreams that evening!
-
Thank you, kathleen. Yep, I slept well and have felt so calm today. *relieved*
