2nd cancer-need good BC doc in NYC

Hi, this is Morgaine. It's been a while since i've posted here. I had DCIS widespread in left breast and had mastectomy with immediate reconstruction in late 2007. Now i have dcis in right breast. I had first surgery in Chicago at Uof Chicago. Now i'm looking for a BC doc in NYC.

Any suggestions? I am going to do mastectomy to right breast and use implants. Any thoughts?

    Sounds reasonable to me.

    Did you have any other TX after the first MX? I am wishing you the best a speedy recovery so that you can move on with life.

    I loved the team at Beth Israel - Dr. Boolbol and Dr. Smith.  I also loved  the team at Columbia - Dr. Feldman and Dr. Rohde.  I went with Columbia because I needed an ALND and Dr. Feldman does a new procedure that Boolbol doesn't do that reduces risk of lymphedema.  Columbia did a great job - I am very happy.  That being said, if I didn't need ALND, I am sure I would have been happy with Beth Israel -they were really awesome - compassionate, punctual (nice bonus - I get so tired of waiting), and very knowledgable.  So either team is great!

    I'm not a fan of Beth Israel.   I ended up an NYU girl (w/Guth).  Would also recommend Feldman at Columbia and/or Sacchini at MSK.

    Loved Dr Schnabel (breast surgeon)  at NYU.  Warm, compassionate, listens, and I never feel rushed.  She exudes calmness.  As far as a PS is concerned (since you mentioned reconstruction), I also really liked Mia Talmor at Cornell.  She works in conjunction with Dr Swistel (the oncological breast surgeon), and while I have not used him myself, I have a couple of friends who have and were very happy.  Also at Cornell, Anne Moore is a fabulous oncologist-- very experienced and knowledgeable.
