Today my good food choices are/will be

Cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread with a smear of almond butter and a cup of green tea.

1/2 a whole wheat pita with hummas, portabello mushroom, spinach, tomatoes and cucumbers

Dinner will be left over veggie pasta from earlier on in the week

Just had 2 slices of ezekiel bread with no-sugar apple butter for lunch/snack. YUM.

Also - I got this loaf at the local coop and froze it. Not sure why, but it is MUCH MUCH better than the last loaf I got (at Trader Joe). This is DELICIOUS!

At Trader Joe's is it frozen or in the fridge?  I don't recall seeing at my local TJs.

At Trader Joe's it was just on the regular shelf with the bread.

At my coop, it was in the freezer. They had various flavors/types. I just got the regular. I wonder if buying it frozen made it stay fresher or something. It is much moister and nicer. The TJ one tasted sort of like cardboard (sorry to say).

I have only seen it in the freezers or fridge sections of stores.  From what I read here, it can go stale or old fast bc it doesn't have preservatives in it.  Which surprises me that TJ, should know better.

I love TJ, but there are a few things that I don't purchase from them bc they are disappointing.  1)bread 2)produce.  Just about everything else I adore.

Good food choices today were almond butter on Ezikiel bread and green tea.  More green tea as a snack and a 1/2 wheat pita/hummas/portabello mushroom sandwich.

Tonight will be a veggie sandwich at a newer sandwich/bar restaurant near my house.

I wish more places had veggie sandwiches.

Today my good food choice was...

A bran and flax muffin (sweetened with grape juice) with cranberry and oranges in it. Cup of green tea.

Lunch of brown rice and steamed veggies with a squeeze of lime.  Boring but filling.

Went to the gym - my husband worked late and asked me to stop at the pizza place and bring him some slices.  Did so - but NONE for me. And it was EASY to pass on.  Instead I cut up and sauteed an onion and big yellow pepper.  Cooked a (non soy) veggie burger, melted a little goat cheese on top and ate with thet sauteed veggies. What a TREAT!  Way better than pizza.

So, I tried a tip from anti-cancer.  When I was asked to lunch today I went online and looked at the menu and made a good decision before going there and smelling/seeing the yummy bad things.  It worked!  I didn't even look at the menu, just ordered as planned.

That's a great tip. I have been doing that too. I know friends on weight watchers that do the same. It really does make it easier!

Good food choices today were banana, almond milk and a smidge of almond butter smoothie.  Yummy!   For lunch I made chicken salad with veganiasse, cranberries, walnuts, curry powder, tumeric and ate this with whole grain Ezikeil bread.

I am craving some cauliflower with curry tonight for dinner.  This recipe has caught my eye

Have any of you ever ordered multiple side dishes as your entree? I have done 2 appetizers in the past, but never order sides.  My friends and I are going out to dinner and a play this week.  Most of them want to go a nearby steakhouse.  Okay, I figure that I can get something there.  ::enter annoying buzzer sound here:: WRONG!  There are no vegeterian dishes on the menu.  The closest is a caesar salad (with anchovies--which I will eat, but I would rather have something warm).  So, I am thinking about ordering the steamed broccoli, steamed spinach and a bowl of soup.  That looks weird doesn't?

Oh and had an appointment with a nutritionist on Friday.  Netnet-I don't have to avoid anything, everything in moderation--with the exception of processed meats.   However, I think I am still pretty comfortable with no red meat, no pork, limited organic chicken/turkey, some fish, a little dairy, but mostly veggies and fruit. I will have a glass of wine once in a blue moon, thinking birthdays and Christmas.

I've been know to order that way.  People generally get over it!  (c:  For breakfast last Sunday I ordered sliced tomato and avocado and water for the organic green tea I brought.  Ha!

Corinne I do that all the time.  My DH loves a good steak house.  They usually have a good house salad (no cheese for me), then if I feel like carb splurging I'll get a baked potato and a side like green beans or asparagus.  I ask them to just steam it with out butter.  I've never had anyone balk at the request.  I do however gross them out when I put A-1 sauce on my potato.  What can I say the brain thinks it's meat.....

I do ask if the veggies are fresh or frozen....when that's all you're eating for dinner it makes a difference.

This is petty, but I just can't stand when they put all the sides on sep little plates--sometimes I ask them to make one plate out of it.  They seem thrown.  Maybe I should start going to different restaurants! Have a fun night out!

What I've been eating has been OK, but I noticed that how much I'm eating is getting, well, out of control.  Too much of a good thing is still bad!

I had veggie vindaloo yesterday with too much naan.  Also had a bowl of veggies and brown rice for lunch.

Today, I am going to have less carbs in order to try to offset the damage I did last night.  Salad or soup today and leftover veggie vindaloo for dinner tonight.

Tomorrow I will do the veggie sides as an entree at the steak house.

Naan is a an Indian flat bread.  Think of a pita, but fluffier and served warm.  You can it plain,  with garlic slivers, or baked with chives.  It often has a little bit melted butter or ghee brushed on top.  Its common to eat your Indian food with naan and your hands. You pick up parts of your food with the naan bread instead of utensils.

I had salmon salad made with vegan mayo and fresh dill on top of spinach and watercress.   I also had kale sauteed with mushrooms and garlic.

That is why I like this thread too.  It gives me good ideas...like an ezikeil bread, almond butter and banana sandwich that I now eat when I am craving something sweet.

Just got back from the gym. No real dinner tonight for us - just grab what you want. I am going to have some sliced red/yellow peppers dipped in hummus. I find when I am eating well, I crave healthy foods. When I am not eating well, I crave bad stuff. It seems (for me) to be a matter of GETTING on the right track and then it is so much easier to STAY on it. Does anyone else find this to be true?

Amy, maybe I just haven't been good long enough.  It sometimes overwhelmes me that I have to make this not a diet, but a lifestyle change and I still crave "bad" foods all the time.

Fairly good today though.  Since I am in radiation I allowed myself to indulge in a chicken breast, half avocado and salad rolled into a whole wheat tortilla for lunch. Crackerbread with peanut butter and fruit for breakfast.  Plain (no sugar in it) puffed brown rice cereal for a late dinner.

Tomorrow I am going to try to make no sugar, home made granola bars (sweetened with dried fruit.)
