LCIS, ALH, ADH and now I found a lump

Just starting to feel like when it rains it pours.  I have been on an every 6 month follow up for the last 3 years, this past April the mammo showed some changes and I had a stereotactic biopsy which showed ALH and LCIS.  This was followed up be an excisional biopsy/lumpectomy in May which confirmed the ALH and LCIS but also showed ADH.  BS recommended close follow up and I am scheduled for a diagnostic mammo in November. 

Shortly after this I had a  hysterectomy with my tubes and ovaries removed as well due to some very large fibroids and horrible bleeding every month.  Ob/gyn was concerned that there was something else going on since I am 56 and hormone levels were showing that I was post menopausal.  All went well with the hysterectomy and no cancer was found just one very large fibroid and many other small ones and an over sized uterus.  Now I am just dealing with hot flashes and night sweats...

Well this morning in the shower I felt a very small lump in the same breast that I had the lumpectomy on.....I am trying to not make myself crazy of this but it seems like it's always something lately...I have a follow up with my ob/gyn next week and I will show it to him and see what he thinks, not thinking I have to move up my mammo appointment since it is only a few weeks away.  Trying to keep good thoughts...

    Ughhh, certainly many of us have been in your shoes and know how stressful and disturbing it is to find some "thing" in the breast when you've already been through a lot. Well, you know what you've got to do, go in there and get it checked out. Most likely it's ok, but sooner the better to the doc so as you can regain peace of mind. Sorry about this stressful lump :(

    So sorry, JanetM,

    It's easy to say keep good thoughts, but so much harder to put into practice.  I have LCIS, ADH and ALH, too.  I know I would be very worried if I found a lump.

    Can you call your Dr. and get an earlier appt?  I know waiting until next week would drive me crazy!

    Please know you have a whole team out here crossing our fingers and hoping for a benign outcome.  I had 2 biopsies 1 year after my excision, and both were benign.  Wishing you fast and benign results!

    Janet--it very well could be scar tissue from your lumpectomy and nothing more. I would try not to worry too much and just go for your mammo  that's coming up in a few weeks.  I have a very thickened lumpy area where I had my lumpectomy, but always have clear scans and negative breast exams--docs said scar tissue after lumpectomy is very common.

    Well, I went for my mammo about 2 weeks ago and the lump that I feel and that the radiologist felt isn't coming up on the imaging.  They did both a mammo and a sonogram because they saw something else on the mammo that warranted the sono.  Right now they don't seem to be concerned about what they saw and will just watch it but I do have a follow up with my BS at the end of the month to see what is going on with the lump that can be felt but so far hasn't been seen.  In the mean time I just had emergency gallbladder surgery.  So the fun just keeps coming......

    Janet, I am so sorry for what you've been through. I'm with Anne thinking that the lump is scar tissue. I hope the tests put your mind at ease.

    This crap a$$ year is almost over. May 2012 be your year for great health. =)

    My hope is that it is scar tissue as well because I am really done with all of this stuff for the year.  I am tired of taking off my clothes and having people touch me.....

    I can certainly relate to that!!  When I was first diagnosed with LCIS, I thought that I'd be getting more exams every 3-6 months, since that happened for the first 2 years or so. It would have been easier emotionally if my 'problem appendage' was, say, my arm. (Not that I'm wanting anyone to have anything wrong with their arm.)

    But my breasts 'calmed down' (as Bessie says), ?? perhaps due to my tamoxifen??  (I am NOT advocating that anyone else make the choices I made - it is a very personal choice.)  I have had yearly mammograms and twice-yearly clinical exams since 2008  (this is what the NCCN recommends, at least for classical LCIS), and no other breast issues.

    Hoping Boringly Benign™ results, and that your breasts 'calm down'.
