oncotype score

Just curious what your oncotype score was and how did it compare to your grade. My score was 15. My grade was 2:
mitosis 1, nuclear 3 and tubules 3. Even though my score was low risk (high end of it) I had chemo as mine was multifocal with one tumour approaching 2 cm.

    Hi Mo,
    My score was 12...I passed on chemo, mine dx was 2.4 cm, IDC, lumpectomy, stage II, grade I...37 rads, tamoxifen, complete hystorectomy, arimidex, currently back on tamoxifen due to harsh arimidex side effects....age 46.

    Mine was stage 1, mitosis 0-1, grade 2....
    I scored 20. I opted out of chemo because oncologist said side effects of chemo would offset any benefits. I hope he's right

    My tumor was stage1 grade 1 and I scored an 8 so no chemo for me. If my tumor was a grade 2 or 3 I may have thought a little longer about getting chemo. Stacey

    I didn't have the oncotype test done either as I was stage IIb with 7.5cm tumor, grade 1 classical ILC...so no gray area for me either, had the mastectomy, had the chemo, had the rads, on tamoxifen.

    I scored an 18, with a 2.7 cm ILC tumor, grade 2 (mitotic 1). Am doing chemo b/c of tumor size, young age, strong family history of cancer. Also, although I'm ER/PR positive, the percentages were under 50% for each, which made me nervous about relying on hormones.

    Hi,
    I scored a 9 on my Stage I, ILC 1.1 cm tumor. I had a lumpectomy, radiation and now tamoxifen. I noticed that this board has a lot of stories about women getting Stage 4 after being treated at stage 1 and 2. I wonder how many women get treated for Stage 1 and 2 and never get breast cancer again. I have a best friend who was treated 14 years ago and is doing great with NED. I would love to hear more stories that have a happy ending.

    Hi Nancy, most stories have happy endings. The minority that do get metastatic disease with stage one tumors are the one's your most likey to read about here. I remember my oncologist telling me to stay off web sites like this because it can be scary and makes you think it happens all the time. I know two people diagnosed around 2 years ago with more aggressive node positive tumors that are doing great! You wont hear about these women because they dont post in this website:)

    Thanks for the encouraging words. I need to hear them sometimes since I'm approaching my 6 month mammogram. After reading all the posts on here, I sometimes feel that there is no hope of beating this thing. Thanks again for your support.

    I too am facing my 6 month checkups beginning Sept 19th and have been growing more nervous daily...

    I try to remember that this is the same as other things in life...you ALWAYS hear the bad, but rarely hear the good!!!!!!

    Its hard to keep those thoughts in my head right now though as it is ME instead of someone else ...

    We had almost identical situations. My oncotype was also 15, and grade 2 (mitosis 1, nuclear 3 and tubules 3). I had two tumors as well, each about 1 cm. I opted out of chemo.

    Hi,

    I just got my Oncotype score 9/4 and it was a 15.  My tumor was 1.2 cm, ER+/PR-, HER2-, ILC and I am 47. I opted out of chemo.  The stats said the chemo would decrease my risk of reoccurrence by 3.7% and I didn't feel the potential benefits were worth the chemo risks.  It is a little scarier I think with ILC since it is hard to know for sure if it has all been caught.  We all hope for the best with this stuff.

    Hi Bookworm;

    Very similar ...but I had at least 4 foci.

    How did you find your's? Mine was palpable lump which showed up on mammo and ultrasound. They told me chemo would add between 4-5 % so I went for it because I was concerned about my overall tumour burden with the multiplew foci. Seems like lobular scores in low risk for oncotype according to this inquiry.

    I have an onco score of 14, highly estrogen receptive.  2.4 cm, grade 2, 100 cells found on one node, looking for more right now.  I had 4 oncologists tell me no chemo and one say yes.  3% advantage.  I think I need to start ASAP.  Very afraid.  Either way.  Odd for me to make this decision, I got a c in high school chem!
