ccjj - try posting your question on the "triple positive thread". There are alot of ladies with that knowledge who will respond.

Thanks Wendyspet... I will do that.

ccjj-- I also had dose dense A & C followed by Taxol. Then had my bmx & got more Taxol, radiation and am still getting Herceptin. I've been on Tamoxifen for about 7 months. I saw 4 oncs (because I get some of my treatment at the cancer center and some at the hospital) and all had the same treatment plan for me. For the heart, they have been doing Echocardiograms every 10-12 weeks since I started. I really don't know if this is standard protocol with other chemos or not?--I've heard that it's standard during herceptin. As for the ovaries, 2 have said I should have them removed, 2 say I probably should but that they can understand why I wouldn't want to so they don't push. But I just had my estradiol level tested for the first time last week & it's very high while my other hormone levels show that I'm menopausal, so I have a feeling that will pull the 2 "maybe's" over to a yes? I'm 34. And I'm really not sure what to do--seems like removing them would just be smarter. I agree, all of the decisions can be pretty overwhelming!
Don't know if this post will help, but just wanted you to know that you are not alone in your treatment plan... I'm sure others will post as well...
Wishing you well...
Hello to everyone! :-)
-
ccjj- I also had 4 dd AC and 4 dd Taxol, followed by 1 year of Herceptin every 3 weeks which I will be finishing in December. I was 44 when diagnosed last August. I have been on Tamoxifen for 7 months. Like mom2twins34, have had echos done every 3 months to check my heart function. I am not sure how they decide which chemo they believe is best. I think It's different for all of us. You should ask your Oncologist why she has suggested this treatment plan for you.
** Hi, Momtotwins34 ...... : )
-
ccjj - I had ACTH, and I think it is often given to those of us with positive nodes. I'm not sure about the "odds" stuff, and don't really pay too much attention to it if I can help it, but it's possible that those odds are from "pre-Herceptin" days.

Hi missy! :-)

Awesome soccermom4force! Love to hear that!
-
Your welcome Saralmom! 16 months of chemo.. AC/T dose dense, then late Herceptin weekly x 52 weeks, 4 1/2 years Tamoxifen,Aromasin,Arimidex , no rads, recon delayed 2 1/2 years... Still here!!
Marcia -
Wow Marcia - you were really put through the ringer with 16 months of chemo and 52 weekly Herceptins.
-
I refer to "H" as chemo altho technically it may not be , but after AC/T it was really So much easier! (The 16 months included the Herceptin)
Best wishes for time to pass quickly and uneventfully for all those in treatment!
Marcia -
Soccermom4force - good for you! Have you done anything (diet, exercise etc.) to prevent recurrence?
-
I am 3 years out this month......doing great.

orange12 = awesome!!

Hi
I'm triple positive with 2+ nodes. I had single mastectomy and CEF followed by Tamoxifen. I had no radiation or Herceptin. I am now on Aromasin and it will be 9 years since diagnosis in January.
See, we are out here!
-
CurlyGirly - Very encouraging!! Thank you for posting.

Hello Triple Positive sisters ... I'm coming up on two years. I plan to come back to post on this thread again next year!
Btw my treatment was 6 rounds of Taxotere/Carboplatin & Herceptin before surgery, bi-lat, 38 rounds of radiation, 9 rounds of Navelbine, ovary removal & a total of 1 year on Herceptin. I've been on Tamoxifen for 8 months.
Curly - WOW! Excellent! No Herceptin? If you don't mind me asking ... why?
-
Plantlover, I noticed curlys diagnosis date...before herceptin, would be my guess?
-
Hi ccjj,
I too am triple positive idc/ilc 40 at dx and premenopausal, I had 6 x tch then 18 herceptin.
I was given a 70% chance of being around in 10 years due to my grade and stage so far 2 1/2 years ned and all looking good. I also had ovaries removed after one year of tamox now on arimedex.
-
Plantlover - Geewhiz is right. It was before Herceptin was used for that stage and when they changed it, I was past the cutoff date to receive it by a couple of months.
-
Hi! I am ER+,Her2+ positive. Almost six an half year surviving. No sign of recurrence. I am now on normal life without any medicine since March,2011.
