There is an old thread about wacky things that could have caused our breast cancer. I can't decide if it was not getting enough chocolate when I was a child that caused my cancer. Or maybe it was having braces.

I remembered yesterday what caused my breast cancer, but can't for the life of me remember what it was.  hahahahahaha!  Maybe because I was a tomboy when I was a kid, but not sure that was it.

Blue, great link. Wish I could laugh, but cry instead for what it's done to thr country, and the world.

Gotta write the Weather as it's written in the upper left hand corner of today's paper:

Wind, clouds, and yes, sun. High 64

No kidding, that was today's weather report!  Nuff said about what it's been like around here ;-)

There is a lot of hypocrisy in our country these days. It is sad when the hypocrits live right next door. Sometimes they are hard to ignore but I bask in the knowledge that  they will get theirs.( Bad girl- I should just say karma.) What goes around comes around. I do not wish evil for anyone, just what they deserve.

hello!  Back from where ever and dropping  in to say hi. Crazy fall thus far with too many activities and too early school starts.  Can't possibly catch-up and read all the posts since my last appearance but happy to see people are having fun.

HL do be careful on the back to work thing.  When I had my hysterectomy I found just sitting in my chair to be absolutely draining and that was far less surgery than you have been through.

    TOPIC For DISCUSSION:

Did anyone besides me watch the PBS special on prohibition?  I had never given it much thought but found it FASCINATING ---the fact that the Drys started their campaign nearly 100 years before succeeding, the strange groups of people who supported it, the guesstimated number of speakeasys in NYC and of course, the everything old is new again smear campaign against Al Smith (for being not only an evil "wet" but a catholic to boot).

If you didn't see it, it should be repeating. Well worth the hours.

Rosemary, veal cutlets are my specialty.

Back to my neighbour.  Since early spring, we have been going back and forth regarding the fence.  He has his own guy.  Fine.  I have my guy who will charge us $1 less per linear foot.  So my guy is waiting for his guy to do his part.  Meanwhile summer went by and no fence and I get told off because Lilah and Virgil are peeing on his grass in the backyard.  So I explained I really can't control that and I'm in no shape to walk them in the morning.  Why such a delay with the fence, that's the solution?  So he says ok I will go with your guy.  Fine!  My guy shows up to give him pricing.  He says no, he has his own guy.  Okaaaay?  So I tell my guy forget about that Pompous Ass and just do the 2 sides and the third side will get done by Mr. Pompous "It ain't rocket science" Ass.  So my guy shows up does the two sides and goes.  Yesterday. Mr. Pompous Ass wants my guy's telephone number.  Well, you know what?  I lost the number, and can't for the life of me remember the company name.  ha  ha  ha!

Virgil knows exactly what to do.  heheheehee!

Just read your link, Blue.  I'm sure the parties involved, who probably did not know the source of the money, will repay all of their donations and speaking fees.

I'm going to watch the news for the announcement.

    Any time now...

Blue, is your neighbor American?  Just wondering.

So were you guys supposed to split the cost of the third line of fence, or is he supposed to pay for it?

    We have to split it.

This works out great for us because we're having interlock put down and it makes it easier for the workers to go in and out.

E, I'm watching hln.  They are televising MJ's death trial.  They just played a slurred recording of MJ but what he said, made me cry.  Michael was such a good man.  Why couldn't somebody help him? and why would anyone ever think he harmed children?

    *WAVE*

Hey all. I haven't logged in here in the longest time, but I did today to respond to an LE question and so I'm taking the opportunity to give you all a drive by wave. I enjoy hearing about your trips, seeing the pictures, and getting dinner ideas. . . is it brussel sprout season already?

Back from my trip to Vegas!  Can I just say it was a total blast and I got to meet Cindy (Hillck)!  She is such a lovely person.

I am still recuperating from dancing for hours on end.  My legs are really tired and then of course I have a sore throat from all of that singing we did while we were dancing.

Trying to catch up on all the news on this thread but it is taking me awhile.

Blue - we have neighbours like that. When we put in the pool and fenced down their boundary, they were supposed to pay for half of the fence (not including the bit that is by the pool). She agreed to it, but never paid. Now their big tree on the boundary is lifting our front fence and I dread confronting them about it.

3Montsmama - welcome home - I was wondering where you were. Paris was great - sorry we didn't manage to get to see each other - it was very hectic when we arrived that first evening and we were late getting in. I did win, in that we caught a cab to the hotel. Hope you had a great time!!

Going to the doc about my foot this morning. I will go in to work as it's too hard to work from home when you need to talk to people.

Woke up to rain - yippeeeee!! We really need it.

Barb - did you ever hear back from that recruiter?

Saw the doc about my foot - he agreed it might be a pinched nerve problem. Wants to wait and see how it goes before ordering xrays etc. At least he didn't try to send me to a podiatrist. He did say the dome my physio gave me to put in my shoe would help. I decided to have the day off - got lots of sick leave saved up :) Now just hoping DH goes in to the office and I won't have to make him lunch again.

Hi, all - just had a wonderful class in Botanical drawing - next week I think we start the watercolor part.  Realy loving it.  Also, just registered for several weekend watercolor painting workshops - will have to learn how to use my camera so I can finally post some pictures.  Will take years to reach Artsee's level of expertise - but I'm still having FUN  learning.

Meanwhile, I guess we all know it's October - great thread on BCO about this - found this link there:  http://www.marieclaire.com/world-reports/news/breast-cancer-business-scams

Makes me wanna cry.  Just cry.  Or puke pink, but thank goodness the article ends with several GOOD places doing research.

Blue, congrat's on not whomping on your neighbor's head with a 2x4.  GO, Virgil!

RIP Steve Jobs. I am very sad to see the departure of a captain of industry who showed that making things, being creative and changing lives was still possible. I have never owned an Apple product, but many millions have been made happy from them.

Now if those nouveau riche Wall Street welfare kings who live off taxpayer largesse through bonuses could follow his example and actually start doing something other than buying, selling, hoarding and embezzling cash, then we might have more Steve Jobses and fewer regulatory wastelands and too-big-to-fail campaign donors ruining our country with their nothing ideas and cash stashing.

No one survives Stage IV cancer.Very sad loss. I am sorry for his family. He was only 56.

Will catch up later. Had a long, busy, complicated day.

Ditto, Athena's word.  RIP Steve Jobs.  I bought my first Mac SE20 in 1989.  Have only used Mac's since then, laptops, elegant, easy, friendly - learned how to use my first Mac when I joined the user group in Washington DC - Washington Apple Pi.  Never did learn to use those "other" machines, with their DOS, F "crib sheets" on the left side of the keyboard - won't tell you what I called the F Keys.

Mac just KNEW when I wanted to make a capital letter, or put in a coma, and they didn't freeze or crash, oh, my.  The Mouse.  Now the trackpad.  How we have benefited from the mind/heart/soul/vision/stubborn demand for Quality/GENIUS of one human being.  RIP Steve Jobs.

Hi Girls - you're very quiet.

I had a good day today. I went shopping and bought 2 new pillows, new pillow protectors and a new mattress protector for our bed and new mattress protectors (cheap ones) for the 2 spare beds. I made up the spare beds with fresh sheets and turned our mattress and put clean sheets on that. Can't wait to feel how good it is when we go to bed tonight. DH doesn't realise but I keep using a magnetic protector - I reckon it helps my arthritis :)

Dinner was great - pumpkin & feta quiche with salad and chips accompanied by a nice glass of cheap sav blanc. I had chocolate for dessert. DH declares he's on a diet so no choc for him :)

Poppy is not happy with the rain - she spent the whole day on the spare bed under her blanket. Then she went crazy when I was making up the upstairs spare bed. She likes me making beds and jumps up on it to play sheet monster.

My foot is feeling a bit better. I'll go to work tomorrow and hope Tim the busker is there at lunch.

Susie, thanks for asking but no, all is quiet. Sigh.

Yes, I echo what Athena and S-flowers said, a truly visionary man. He will be sorely missed. And the cynical part of me knows Apple's stock will drop today. Tempted to throw in my hat with the Wall St protesters. Just kidding.

    Good morning ladies,

Sad news indeed.  We need more men like Steve Jobs.

I have an appointment with the BS today to decide if the fibroadenoma in my good boob should end up in a jar.  I definitely don't need another surgery.

    Have a nice day!

ETA - Athena, I agree with you.  The day traders with inside information have ruined the stock market.  There are many.  I am watching a few stocks and belong to a forum and I can tell you a few stories, but will spare you.  Suffice it to say "pump and drop" is a game they play very well.
