Could this be recrrance?

Hi, I was dx in March '10, had lumpectomy, one node was positive so had axillary clearance, chemo and 30 sessions rad. Am now on Anastrozole (I'm in Ireland so people on the site may not be familar with this?), its estrogen inhibitor. I recently discovered a fairly big area of thickening just to the left of the scar from my surgery to remove lump and have quite a bit of pain in the breast, the lumpy area feels a bit like its bruised, I also have pain occasionally over my shoulder and stabbing pain in my neck going up through my head. I have to go back to hospital on Thurs this week but am driving myself mad looking at sites for info on recurrance! Anyone here experience any of this? And if so, did it turn out to a recurrance? I just prefer to know, whatever way it goes. Thanks a lot and thanks for all the support anf help I have found here just by reading all your posts.     I have had similar treatment. Regarding the thickening in your breast, this could be scar tissue or other effect from the surgery or radiation. I haven't experienced the other symptoms you mentioned but again, they could be due to something other than cancer.



    When was your last mammogram?

    I had a mamogram in April this year, havn't been back yet to the surgery team, just onc and she did'nt seem to think there was anything unexpected in it. But that was 6 months ago so I'm worried that there could be things happening since then as by reading the other stories here a recurrance can be discovered quite quickly after a clear mammagram. Anyway I'm at the hospital tomorrow so not too long to wait. thanks for your reply xx
