Looking for a Bra
I went to the medical supply store to see what they had.
It was all big and fugly.....ugly ugly ugly....and the forms were very heavy...
I guess I need to google and finda better store.
I just wanted so cute lacy bras and foam forms for now...they hardly had any sizes
or I will have to order online.
Do you think it is best to wait till I get my port put in, will that make a difference.

there are lots of specialty shops and on line bras...also Nordstoms carry them

I suggest you draw a line to show your surgeon where your bra straps set and ask that he place your port accordingly if possible. All my bras straps interfered and put pressure on my port making my life just miserable, the oncology nurses said I should have done this. I also had my first chemo infusion an hour after the port placement surgery, I now know better, should wait to be healed first. Good luck to you,

In general, medical supply stores are not the place to find fashionable, comfortable bras or the latest lightweight silicone and non-silicone breast forms.
As SoCalLisa said, there are specialty shops that carry these items. I see that you're in Lafayette. I did a quick google search and didn't find any boutiques in your city, but I did find one place in Baton Rouge, if that's not too far for you to travel. It's called Total Woman Boutique (http://thetotalwomanboutique.net/). It might be worth calling and talking with them to see what types of products they offer. Their website wasn't real sophisticated, but that doesn't mean they aren't good fitters.

Thanks for the info....it is just so hard yet to know what will be comfy....
When do you think is the right time (weeks after surgery ??) to get fitted ?

Just an update...I love my microbead forms from TLC - even more so that my light weight (ha) silcone forms from Amona. (sp)

I got a bunch of stuff from TLC, and so far I am very happy with it. Also, in the beginning, I got some of those featherweight forms and just basted them into my normal bras. It worked fine. Otherwise, I saw the other day that TLC also sells pre-cut pockets for sewing into normal bras to hold the foobs.
Like you, I love the microbead jobs.

I love them way more than my silcone forms....they just feel like lead weights....and I can use my micro bead forms in my old bras - they fit just fine and really dont move around.
